    :confused:
    Stuff does not come back if you were using LTSB (at least it has not for me). I remove everything (every available option, both basic and advanced). Nothing has ever come back and I use windows update too. ;)

    Of course, if you upgrade a regular edition of Home, Pro, Education, Enterprise, etc... To the newest build (released every 6 months - 1 year), you will get everything back. This is because while the name is Windows "10" think of every major new release as v11, 12, 13, etc... Microsoft just refuses to rename it and calls all future Windows releases, Windows "10" because they want you to think of Windows as a service. The next release of LTSB is not until 2019. :p

    Nothing comes back for me because I don't take it away. Of course, I always clean install anyway as I use my MS account digital license of PWS. But anyway, so it goes.

    MSMG juggles a balance between full-time school, work, and family which means he sometimes does take some time away from here. It is not uncommon for him to be gone for a few weeks at a time. Since Christmas is just 1 1/2 weeks away, followed by New Years just another 2 1/2 weeks away, I do not expect him to be back until after the holidays.

    Totally understandable. I hope everyone involved with this project also understands that we appreciate their work.

    Is it better to use that version even in RS3 when it probably won't support new apps that come with the Fall Creators Update? That doesn't maky any sense.

    Everybody talks about that version (LTSB). What's so special about it? Also, why does everyone talk about the integration of .NET Framework and Language Packs and why can't or should someone integrate them (and also the updates) before using the apply and rebuild functions?

    Starting to wonder if removals should still be a thing. In 3 months, there will be RS4 I presume? And removals in RS3 just isn't as clean as it used to be.

    If say I wanted to disable windows defender without removing it, what's the recommended way?

    Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB (Long Term Service Branch) is as close to being more like Windows 7, while normal Windows 10 is more like an updated Windows 8 (at least that is the simplest way to envision them).

    LTSB out of the box (default install) does not have all the modern apps included and by default has a lot of the other services either removed or simply disabled. It makes for a good base if you want just the simplicity or if you plan on customizing your own Windows Distro (homebrew). Furthermore, Windows Enterprise LTSB does not generally receive new features as the only updates it receives are security fixes, bug patches, and generalized improved hardware support (there is a lot of misinformation claiming it does not get hardware updates, but it does, as I am typing this on an AMD Zen CPU, for example). As opposed to normal Windows 10 which gets a major update every 6 months to 1 years, LTSB only receives a major update every few years (next update is not until 2019) and this is because they have long-term support in mind.

    In my opinion, integrating .NET into your ISO, when creating your own distro (homebrew), while seemingly convenient, I see it as problematic. You are better off installing it after Windows finishes the install.

    edit:
    Sorry, you also asked about language packs. -- Language packs are good for either changing the OS's language or adding additional support. They should be seen as optional and only added if needed.

    :rolleyes: MSMG does not answer to you or anyone else here (minus the rules which we all answer for). :rolleyes: With full-time school, work, and family, he does not owe you an explanation for his coming or going. He does not owe you anything. MSMG does this little side project for free on his own free time whenever he wishes or is able. You should be grateful and accept that fact. It is very disrespectful and rude to presume that he owes you, any explanation for the time he puts in or when he is busy living his life.

    And with this simple regedit, you do not even need NETFX3.5!
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework]
    "OnlyUseLatestCLR"=dword:00000001

    Thanks! Well, at first that should be the version I wanted but it looks like it doesn't come with the store app which I need to download a few apps (I don't need most of the apps that come with the "regular" version beyond the calculator and the photos apps), although I don't need the rest and it might be possible (perhaps, I don't know) to integrate the store app (and the calculator and photos apps too) with this tool or others and it isn't updated like the the other version, according to what you said.

    I talked about .NET Framework because there are lot's of users wanting to integrate the latest version when Windows 10 already comes with it but maybe they're talking about integrating it in the LTSB version and not in the "regular" version (maybe the LTSB version doesn't come with the latest version).

    [edited to boost the 'professional tone' of my opinion (for what it's worth)]
    Opinions ...
    A lighthearted viewpoint:
    W10 1607 == Pure pleasure (best W10 so far)
    W10 1607 minus 'bloat' == Pure pleasure double-plus good
    LTSB 2016 == W10 1607 minus 'bloat'
    therefore ...
    LTSB 2016 == Pure pleasure double-plus good! (for eight more years if you want)
    MSMG removes more 'bloat' from LTSB 2016!
    So talking about what is the best baseline OS to start with before applying MSMG toolkit is a relevant topic to this thread.

    A more serious viewpoint:
    Asking questions is never really a problem, but it's always best to first try and see if the question is already answered somewhere else in the forum.
    So for instance if you're wondering about "LTSB" or "LTSB and MSMG" or "LTSB and the Store"
    Try:
    Dig a bit yourself before you start asking questions!

    Oh, I totally get that. For a lot of "free" software out there, when they are occupied they usually mention so... could simply go with "Im busy". At this point in time, a lot of people rely on this software already. If the intention is to create a piece of software to make lives more convenient for others at no cost, im sure its nothing to let users know to not cause inconvenience, also at no cost. Of course there can be emergencies, and im surely hoping its not this.
