oops! Well ... my story is that I'm not pointedly directing it at any one person, but I suppose that is open to interpretation ... I will edit my post ... no reason to 'make extra work' for some busy site manager with a hair-trigger ban-hammer!
If you see my signature, you'll see a link to a thread on how to install the store after installing Windows. Furthermore, MSMG can add the store to the ISO. -- That's 2 options for you (and you only need 1). Which one is best for you is your choice. All the issues with Direct X have been resolved. It is only with .NET that you could end up having a problem and only if you're removing stuff from the ISO (as I do). If you are removing stuff from the ISO it is best that you install .NET after you install windows. If all you are doing is adding stuff to the ISO (without removing anything), you can generally add .NET to the ISO, last (important - it must be done last).
Your opinion is noted, but LTSB is still supported by Microsoft since it is, after all, a long-term service branch. Further, the whole point of using LTSB is 3 fold No new feature update pushed onto you 6 months from now Starting off with less means less to go wrong when removing stuff. Safely accept regular windows updates #1 means my install which still receives Microsoft updates, means I can continue using windows normally without having to make another ISO 6 months from now or being so watchful (mindful) on the updates. As we both have said, next new release is not until 2019. For those of us who do not want to keep playing "whack-a-mole" and want the closest thing possible to Windows 7 from the start, while being able to remove a little extra, with less to worry about and while using updates regularly; LTSB hits the spot.
That is still asking for an explanation for MSMG's comings and goings. You are owed none. However, MSMG has previously told folks in this thread, that his school, work, and family are his top priority and that he will freely come and go, as needed. -- That was the only explanation anyone here needs.
1709 pro x 64 msmg 7.9 doesnt remove cortana and most packages under remove windows packages. Used wimtweak online to remove stuff I couldn't remove with msmg
How many times do you have to re-install an OS that is supported by MS for another eight or nine years? Personally, baring hardware failure or any catastrophic virus/ransomware attack, I don't plan on re-installing LTSB 2016 till after 2026. Which in reality means I'll never re-install LTSB 2016 since I'll likely toss, give away or sell whatever PC has it installed before then.
Ok, but according to what was said here it doesn't generally get new features and only receives a major update every few years.
every LTSB build is supported for 10 years .maybe LTSB have less feature than newer builds but in quality and security ,its more or less the same with newer builds .Every LTSB build will not be updated to newer build ,2015 LTSB build will not be updated to 2016 LTSB .they stay in the same build for 10 years unless the user reinstall his/her OS to newer builds
And what new features have been useful to you? Any relevant that you do not have in RS1? Or even any improvement in performance?
Exactly. Nothing has been added in builds after 1607 that I find important enough to ditch LTSB. As far as performance goes, hard to imagine that a regular build with all bloat outperforms a MSMG-stripped LTSB. In my previous post I said that some removed stuff always comes back. Personally I have a hard time to get rid of Onedrive. After removing it with MSMG, and deploying the image, there's a beautiful runonce reg key that takes kicks of the Onedrive installer on second boot. The same thing happens after the monthly CU, so I've just given up on that for now. Cheers.
Well, but if isn't updated often it might be bad, I think... Well, actually I don't know. I had to know which features were introduced with each build to know if I use them or not. I don't know if it helps but I remove almost all the apps, except the store, calculator, edge and photos apps. My concern is more about the windows updates not being delivered but I might be wrong and actually have advantages using the LTSB version instead of the "regular" one...
I think you misunderstood , 2015 LTSB: Mainstream support until October 13, 2020 Extended support until October 14, 2025 2016 LTSB: Mainstream support until October 12, 2021 Extended support until October 13, 2026 Each LTSB build are independent from each other . That means each LTSB build stays in the same build while still being updated with quality and security updates every month unlike the pro version where it was twice per year feature updates where your OS will be reinstall again leaving the old one behind . Less features doesnt mean its bad .
MSMG Toolkit 7.9 W10 1709 x64 en-us Remove all apps and Windows components, exc. Advance components. I don’t remove Hyper-V, but I cannot start it after install OS. Some options in Programs and Components Windows are not active.
