Hi! First time poster here, so let me start off by expressing my sincere gratitude to the creator of MSMG toolkit for developing perhaps the most useful tool for windows! I have installed windows 10 1703 three times now, every time getting a little better at it, but some things are still broken. (1703 because I like that it uses more control panel than the settings) I've tried searching the forum, but I might not be very good at it, since I haven't found answers to my questions. Anyway here are my problems and questions: 1) Am I missing out on something important using build 1703? 2) I've read that removing telemetry will break some stuff, so I was hoping someone could list items that are not safe to remove. Telemetry I could keep and disable, as I've understood. 2.1) The main problem I can't figure out is when trying to stream from some sites I get this error "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported." First time I thought it was because I removed windows media (which was a mistake anyway) but last time I kept it, but I'm still getting the same error. 2.2) Also I would like to use Miracast with my pc and laptop, but the option is not available. Does anyone know how to retain this feature? 2.3) I had a hard time connecting playstation 4 controllers via bluetooth last time as well. They had really poor connection, especially the more of them I connected. If anyone has any clue? I have yet to try an installation without removing telemetry, so maybe some of the problems will be fixed by keeping it, but I wanted to ask for any additional advice before going through the whole process again trial and error style. 3) Should I use MSMG to install Net framework 3.5 and 4 or could I install them after the new install? If I should, I would be forever grateful if someone could link the downloads and an in-depth guide for it! * Please assume that you are answering to a person who is not very well educated in this area, which means if you could provide as much context to your answers, I would really appreciate it. I understand that answering to this post will require a lot of precious time and effort so I would like to thank anyone willing to help in advance!
Although I do keep updating the ToolKit to support older versions of Windows 10, I don't use them as my primary OS and So I don't know what exactly you are having issues with v1703. 1) You will be missing only some new features provided by v1709/v1803, apart from that all Windows 10 versions are same intended to do the same tasks. 2) Removing Telemetry breaks Sticky Notes and the ability to install Drivers through WU and this is for Windows 10 v1709, v1803 only. 2.1) I don't know what the exact reason for it, anyway are you using the N Edition? 2.2) Miracast is only supported on some devices, even on my PC too it won't get enabled or work. 2.3) Try with latest Drivers for PS4 controllers. 3) Yes you can integrate .NetFX 3.5 /4 using the ToolKit, just follow the order specified in the Readme.txt
Thank you for the answers! 2.1) No, I'm using Pro edition. I guess it has something to do with javascript, but other objects are working fine with javascript. 2.3) I was using the latest drivers unfortunately 3) Could I also install the net frameworks after I have installed windows?
This is such an awesome toolkit, PLEASE don't stop updating it, and make it compatible with 1809 when it comes out. Thank you very much for your hard work!
I thought of releasing an update to the ToolKit to support the RS5 build since with previous RS5 builds it was working better But with the current build, it looks like it's the end to DISM method of component removal. With Windows 10 Redstone 5, the Microsoft has made it more difficult to remove components using the traditional DISM method, Now even more packages/components have been merged and also removing some packages is breaking the windows setup totally. So, Right now I may be adding support for RS5 Apps removal only and when RS5 Final build is released will work on the components using the manual method which may take a lot time.
Hi MSMG. I used v8.8 to make the ISO, but now the newest CU won't install (after I restart, it says there was an error and starts again). Also, should I have removed Cortana, XBox, Edge and Internet Explorer or just disable them?
Same error on LTSB, the CU always has errors and only after a couple of times retrying it will actually start to download. This is annoying. Cheers.
Hello dears!! Tool just super watching the development with version 6. Thanks to the developer! In the latest version, when removing Telemetry, defender and SmartScreen installation error appears, helps the following.... preload and continue the installation from the location from which you will be prompted! Sorry for my English))
Hello. So my last issue (updates not installing) got resolved once I used WHD. But I also have this other issue that Google Chrome browser lags while closing down. I have removed all metro apps except store and all components and advanced components except Telemetry and File Explorer. The (Click yes to run as admin) screen also lags a bit. What can be the issue?
Great project MSMG. I was wondering if there was a way to write a script or choose all the MSMG Toolkit options you want beforehand so the various tasks could run in one unattended step or fewer steps?
If you skip Removing Microsoft Unified Telemetry Client ^(Asimov^) Package, all will be ok you can remove -Customer Experience Improvement Program ^(CEIP^) Package -Windows Kernel Debugging Package -Microsoft Windows Error Reporting Packag and Sticky Notes will work
