Its not that bad and is similar to 7 size wise. I removed store and apps with msmg toolkiit 8.2, just get the open shell fork of classic shell and its a good os. Need experienced 8.1 users experience here but i think a lot of privacy settings are on by default and they are easy to find. Try it out as long as you can get the drivers for it.
Sorry, I can't give an ETA as myself don't know when I will be working on it, a lot of other things are there to finish yet.
You can divide the Apps into Regular Apps and System Apps, a majority of Regular Apps when removed doesn't break the OS, some Regular Apps may require the Store/Xbox Apps to function properly. Even removing the System Apps doesn't break the OS unless you know which System Apps you may need to retain or remove. - The Cortana system App is not just the Personal Assistant but instead it's also the search feature in the StartMenu, Taskbar Search box, Settings Search box. Removing Cortana will also remove the functionality to search. from StartMenu, Settings. If you don't want to use Cortana but want to retain the Search ability then you can disable the Cortana by using the Tweaks menu inside the ToolKit. - At present removing the sub-component Unified Telemetry Client under Telemetry Component will break the ability the ability to install drivers through Windows updates. - I have tested many times with the updates installation through the Windows Updates and it works fine for me here and even I have posted the screenshots of Windows Update successfully installing the updates in my previous posts. At present the ToolKit uses both the DISM and the manual method for removing a component and since using the DISM to remove a component, one can't a control over what to remove/retain when removing a component and so starting with next version I will be completely using the manual method for component removal. Do wait for the future version of ToolKit to make a lite OS of your choice.
Updated the DaRT pack with W10 RS5 Debug Tools, use the Mega link from the first post. Code: Name: Dart_W10.7z Size: 204688229 bytes (195 MB) SHA1: 9F4210CA87B7F19657F8A3246000E7C840EA7654
@MSMG: I suggest you wait with the release of the new toolkit until LTSC 2019 is released, to be able to include the needed changes for this sku. Cheers.
hehe I think that LTSC 2019 should arrive first, because according to MSMG the new version should be delayed because of the M $ FT itself that made "things" more complicated to be worked out than I can imagine the great work that it has before it which can release version 8.9 unfortunately we have to be patient and wait for the master
Hi there! In the latest Build 17763.1 does not turn off Defender. Who knows how to solve the problem will be grateful. Thanks...
Can anybody help me remove ContentDeliveryManager on 17763.1? As the toolkot doesn't remove it as of the current version, so I tried using DISM but I don't know the exact name of the package (/Get-Packages doesn't help unfortunately) Any hint or help would be very much appreciated
I leave Edge just in case I need it. Its rare but I do use it. OneDrive by contrast is completely removed. Before today I have never done a modified install and seen that icon remain.
