    Never said I believed it. It was a speculation on why so many people would want to remove it.
    I do, however, notice the MsMpEng process using quite a bit of CPU at times.

    Main reason for me is I simply don't trust Microsoft when it comes to security. I've been using their products since they went public and seen blatant security flaws with impotent attempts to address them over the years. I'll stick with a third party solution. That being the case I want Defender removed or at least completely disabled.

    Sure it does. You can whitelist processes, folders, files, even whole drives!

    I don't need to show anything, I am a member of the Wilders Security forum since year where all we talk about is security solutions and every one there knows how heavy it is.

    Just to give you a small example, on my D: drive, I have a folder named Software

    2019-02-13_054730.jpg

    In that folder there are many sub-folders which have portable apps in them and each sub-folder I've set it to have a custom icon to easily differentiate it, then there are some setup.exe files of apps that I use. If I have Windows Defender enabled, whenever I open that folder, the folders with custom icons load in slow motion, one after the other. It's fine if it was just one time as the AV is scanning the folders but it happens very freakin' time and you can see my system specs in my signature. I have a super fast laptop with all SSDs.

    Use what you like, no one is forcing you to use anything else but there are many other good and free options like Panda Antivirus Free or Bitdefender Free that don't rob you 40% of your system's performance. Maybe you live in this bubble thinking that Windows Defender is not heavy because that's all you've used and you think ok that's how my system performs, but when you try some other AV, you will feel like you just bought a new computer.

    I'm outta here, use whatever you wish.

    Is it so hard to just show us a screenshot which shows Defender using abnormal system resources?

    Don't get me wrong, i couldn't care less what AV is "the best" according to one of the so many test sites.

    But i never see any real evidence of taskmanager showing defender using the huge amounts, no even system crippling, of system resources.

    I have seen defender slow down the system much.. try copying a folder full of exe's (like sysinternals pack or something). Try see how slow that gets.

    Copy them and make a screenshot of taskmanager showing defender at work and post it.

    Bro, how can I show you any screen shot when the first thing I do after I install Windows is this:

    1) Disabled Windows Defender from GPE
    2) Ran this reg file:
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    ;Windows Defender Security Center Service
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SecurityHealthService]
    "Start"=dword:00000004

    ;Windows Defender Antivirus Service
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinDefend]
    "Start"=dword:00000004

    ;Windows Defender Antivirus Network Inspection Service
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WdNisSvc]
    "Start"=dword:00000004

    ;Windows Defender Antivirus Network Inspection System Driver
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WdNisDrv]
    "Start"=dword:00000004

    ;Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection Service
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sense]
    "Start"=dword:00000004

    3) Disabled Windows Defender using O&O ShutUp10
    4) Disabled SmartScreen using this:
    Code:
    1) takeown /f "%systemroot%\System32\smartscreen.exe" /a
    2) icacls "%systemroot%\System32\smartscreen.exe" /reset
    3) nsudoc -U:T -P:E "%systemroot%\System32\icacls.exe" %systemroot%\System32\smartscreen.exe /inheritance:r /remove *S-1-5-32-544 *S-1-5-11 *S-1-5-32-545 *S-1-5-18

    Benchmarks are only valid for you when reinforcing your personal opinion, everything else is questionable? LOL

    Show tests with objective methodologies that support your statement and not your subjective sense.

    And learn to interpret an impact in a certain percentage does not mean slowness. Only that part of the processing power is being wasted on bulls**t. With cutting edge hardware you'll never notice a difference but with old hardware things may be different.
