emulation = Yes if a loader was used. Or in this case it partially read the slic that sometimes is 'disabled' when secure boot is enabled. The key should not of shown on the saved report just X's in its place. The Slic reading program (by Alphawaves) was written before W10 came out and it may need a tweak? But I think if secureboot was off, then it would read the slic properly.
No loader used. This is an oem pre-installed os, laptop just came in to get some programs installed. Just did a QT test out of curiosity. Yes. X's were there but I just deleted them on purpose too. lol
lol what you like These newer BIOS's by OEM's are getting 'smarter' im sure, or they making it more difficult to install anything less than Windows 10. I know at one time they was going to block Skylake cpu's from allowing W7 from being installed, think they backtracked on that.
Saying that, at the school i worked at, we had some new laptops in, that was for Windows 7, at the time we had to use XP for some exam software so i dual booted with XP. Everything worked but not a chance to install the Intel Gfx driver for XP. I was told by the laptop maker that the bios would switch off the Intel gfx chip if XP was detected - and it was true. Even in device mangler it did not show any intel references for the gfx chip under XP, very clever. Well it was until i edited the bios and removed the restriction. They was branded NovaTech, but the motherboards inside was ASUS A15. So ASUS is playing again i see!
It shows the password when you open the ********* link. Look under the download links and above the HASH numbers.
There will be a small update to the MRP shortly - just running a few tests... Optimized code a little bit, not anything major just a few nips, tucks and tidy up, most is on the Server add-on section. Updated a few desktop wallpapers: Lenovo, Gigabyte and MSI. When can find other brand ones that are less 'boring' they will be updated along the way. Tweaked the Query Tool so if UEFI/GPT/Secure Boot is active then a note will appear about the SLIC maybe incorrectly displayed. Thanks Mr.X for your report that shown this glitch. So this will be a mega MRP bundle of updates. MRP, OEM's, Query Tool and Usertweaks. Usertweaks is just a simple change in how windows is detected as sometimes it didn't detect Insider/Preview for your tweaks. Sorry for the quick update from the last one (7 days?), just want to make sure if i loose my 'net for a while then MRP is at least on a stable base-line. MRP Update will be either later today/evening or tomorrow.
MRP and other related files Updated! MRP Mega Bundle Updated! MRP - Code Optimizations and Server Add-On tidy up. Query Tool v14b6 - If UEFI/GPT/Secure Boot active now give note about SLIC info may not be correct. Thanks Mr.X OEM's.7z - Few wallpaper changes: Lenovo, Gigabyte, HP and MSI so far. Look better than the boring ones before. You can change them if you wish with your own creations etc. Usertweaks - Adjusted Windows detection for Insider/Preview Editions, sometimes got them wrong. All download Links updated. Happy New Year!
With QTv14b6 you should get this msg if Secure Boot is active: Note: [#9] SLIC OA may not show correctly with UEFI/SecureBoot enabled.
At least now the msg appears so that it informs people why it may not show properly. I have heard a few SLIC checkers also fail if Secure Boot enabled.
Query Tool Updated (again!) v14b7 Another little update to the Query Tool! Now at v14 Build 7. {Uploaded} Went through and de-capitalized text, looks neater. Added OS Language with decimal and hex values - this may help if some language errors appear in the QT/MRP later. Key value changed on saved report from X's to 'Key Not Shown On Saved Report.'
