When using the 'Unlock Defender' sometimes the Defender icon in the system tray does not show, not sure why it not set to be hidden, it not affect the functioning of Defender so if you need to open the app find it on the Start Menu or via typing it in to the task bar search..

    I have a old Mac 20/2 (A1224) I just installed w11 on it

Not too bad its a C2Duo E8335 @2.66Ghz with 4GB ram think gfx is AMD rv630

That via boot camp or what it called :D

So if MRP 151 can install on a Mac then im sure it should on a VM :D

I went to take it off and wiped the entire drive :( so now trying to install Ubunto LTS as not got a MAC OS Lion set of disks :D

The old mac works well on ubuntu lts, at least it up to date unlike mac os that was on it that would no longer update as it too old.

May try vbox Tomorrow as vmware is a no go for me :(

My pc is all ok vt enabled, its a 10th gen i5 intel, 16gb ram and loads of space.

Just weird it not work on another pc too. Even re downloaded it. All installed just failed to run any vm.

Maybe it's VBox/VMWare versions rather than the Virtualizers themselves. I have VirtualBox 5.2.45 and didn't notice any bigger problems lately. Later versions added a lot of shenanigans that may screw things up.

I remember vmware v14 or v15 would not upgrade from my v12 i had.

I know v16 had a few issues with cpu items not set which w11 not install on.

Will try vbox as i used to use that for years before i bought  a licence for vmware v12, as that worked perfectly on w10.

    Well it worked :D:D

I can confirm that MRP151 BC2 works as expected on VMWare v17.

Took roughly 5 minutes from Preparing Windows screen to the MRP addon manager screen shown above... Which is about the same on my real PC tests.

    My vmware 17 setup:
Created VM as windows 10 x64 --- NOT win11 as that wanted all sorts of extra hoops to set up such as TPM, a password for something else - bit locker ?, i wanted a simple setup as it took me long enough to get vmware to work as it is :D

    60GB NVme drive
    4GB ram
    NAT network
EFI - no secure boot or TPM crap :D

So if you have set up your VM as Windows 11 and all that extra messing about and you are having issues, that may well be your setup failures with MRP!

If you want to test with the TPM etc, do so on a real PC as it seems the emulations are not perfect at the moment.

VMWare17-win11.jpg Snapshot pic as i suspended instead of screen captured

With MRP 151+ and Win11 Vmware or even on a real pc which has TPM enabled it may be wise not to select this MRP Option under the w11 tab in the creator:

    Prevent BitLocker Auto Encryption

Reason is that may affect your installation because on Vmware at least you have to set up that encryption through the hoops in creating the w11 VM...

I will set MRP to auto disable that option when VMWare or any VM software is being used/detected also if a TPM is enabled... *Done the check in MRP 151 BC3 -- although only a simple test for TPM/VM is detected for this check*

Just in case that is why some are experiencing 'hangs' during 'Preparing Windows' stage of the setup because the drive is already encrypted but then this MRP option turns that off and causes confusion in the OS installation...

MRP151 BC3 is stable - no issues with VMWare v17.

Detection of any VM or TPM will tell MRP to auto disable some options to hopefully prevent setup 'hang' issues.

    EarlyLog will show this information...
    Code:
Quick Virtual Machine and TPM detection...
    TPM information being examined...
A possible Virtual Machine was detected.
No TPM was detected or available.
Some options will be auto disabled to prevent unstable installations.
Project log shows this under the disabled options section:
    Code:
[PBLAE] Prevent Bitlocker auto encryption was auto disabled to prevent issues.
This not only prevents Win 1x VM's hanging it also prevents it on a real hardware too when a TPM is present (of any version) as Win 1x can auto encrypt during early installation too.

The above means on windows 10/11 setup can auto encrypt the drive(s) early on during setup before MRP has even began to run, and if the option in MRP to Prevent that is used it would cause the OS to get confused because it would not be able un-encrypt the drive while setup is still running and so it can cause either a boot loop, 'hung setup' or other strange things.

This new check for either a VM or TPM present it will disable that option to hopefully prevent the setup/os from corrupting.

MRP v151 has been uploaded, 2nd post's download link, password and hashes have been updated. :)

Added 'Unlock Defender' (W1x), this unlocks certain settings that are usually locked by the OS. Note the Windows Security icon may not show on the taskbar until you open the app for the first time. When you run a scan you may get the threat about 'DefenderTamperingRestore' or similar wording this is because the 'DisableAtFirstSeen' registry item is set to disable so that it not grab any 'threat' it sees before you got a chance to exclude it. You can either allow Defender to reset that parameter or allow it to keep that setting disabled, the choice is yours. Also certain possible spying/leaked telemetry is disabled such as the submit samples and cloud based parts. These are greyed out because they are policy edits and do not affect the use or updating of the Defender app etc. This option will auto-disable the MRP's 'Disable Defender' option as it is pointless to have both so this 'Unlock' option will take preference over the other. The
option to unlock defender is only operative for W1x and is ignored/not needed for older OS's.

Note that on Vista kernels when using the 'Disable Defender' option you may get errors after logging in. But to overcome that don't use the MRP option as when you disable Defender in that OS likewise in Win7/8.x it will stay disabled and not re-enable, unless m$ have changed that policy.

If you wish to get rid of the Edge's taskbar icon then select the 'Use MRP's slimmer Start menu and TaskBar' as this will clear out the taskbar to the bare minimum. Reboot is required.

Re-worded a few log entries to reference the use of Windows 11 correctly as some entries may still of said Windows 10, even though the kernel is basically the same for now at least.

Due to some changes in the Win1x theme, (in the OS's itself), the color of the Start, Action Centre and Taskbar will probably be the title bar's accent color so for example if set to Blue then the Start, Action Centre and Taskbar colors will change to Blue as well.

Added 'Disable TitleBar Accent Color' being used on Start, Taskbar and Action Center. In responce to the above OS theme changes. Select it to prevent the accent color being used.

Added 'Disable Special Keys' this includes Sticky, Narrator etc the ones that when caught by accident was a pain to turn off! This should eliminate that issue.

Added 'DisableF1Help' this disables the pressing of F1 for help which for some is a nuisance when you catch the key by mistake! This appears to mainly work for Explorer windows and the [?] icon is now inoperative there too. For Notepad and other Apps etc the F1 still opens the online help as normal.

Added 'DisableMeltSpectr' this disables the Meltdown/Spectre patches and can help speed up a older CPU, but at the sacrifice of 'security'. Not that many attacks have been made!

Added 'DisableWindowsUpdate' this however may get overridden by a manual Update or M$ and not always work as expected. You can still use the pause feature/quality update option to prevent updates that way. Or simply use other stop updates tools of your choice.

Added for w1x: 'Prevent Drive Auto Encryption' this will only work properly on a real PC if Secure boot is turned off before OS installation, if a VM or TPM is detected then this option will auto disable to prevent setup or later issues. Better to use a unattend.xml with the <PreventDeviceEncryption>true</PreventDeviceEncryption> set in it. See in the Optional>w1x folder for unattend.xml files that can be used for windows 10/11 to turn that and other things off.

Fixed an issue where explorer or file-explorer in windows 11 (Insider/Canary Build mainly) would not work or crash.

Updated the 'Remove all safe apps' routine to be more time efficient and with help from 'Dark Dinosaur' for the tweaked P/Shell script it uses to exclude specific apps.

Some updates to the log entries, the early log has more information added.

Note: Using VMWare v17 and a VM setup as 'Windows 11' and using the TPM + the Password hoops it makes you enter for that, can cause issues with MRP, on real w11 capable hardware there is no issues only on VMware v17 Virtual Machines. Sometimes there can be a 'hung' OS installation or longer delays between sections of the OS Setup.
