The expand explorer ribbon option will be re-enabled in MRP 155, which is about ready for release -- Just sorting the changelog out. You may get a explorer 'Hard Error Exception' error on first reboot or desktop appearance but click the OK button and it not seem to appear again after that.
MRP v155.0 has been uploaded, download link, password and hashes have been updated. Taken a while to get this finally ready to release... Spoiler: MRP 155 Changelog Many internal parts of the code has been tweaked or updated to cover the latest things that m$ have been adding etc. Option Re-Enabled: Expand Explorer Ribbon has been re-enabled again for Windows 10/11 but it may not work after a few more CU's as m$ keep changing the Explorer.exe -- also note that you may experience a 'Hard error' type message/error box appear on the first reboot or desktop appearence, click the OK button and it should never appear again, not sure why this happens but it may be because of the little changes m$ been doing the the shell's Explorer.exe into a win32 App thing. Option Added: Remove the 'Home' icon from Explorer windows. Option Added: Remove 'Gallery' icon from Explorer windows. Option Fixed: SSD Tweaks sorted a missing Registry entry line that was REM'd out by mistake. Thanks to @haris_mdlf69 for informing me about it. Option Fixed: Hide Defender icon from system tray, this now should stay hidden even after any updates. The above are the main updates for MRP 155, there may be tweaks to other options but i not find my notes, i know i have updated a few to cover the latest CU's etc and more so for win 11. Some logo's and wallpapers have been updated in the OEMs'.7z branding archive. Many thanks to the beta testers for testing and bug reports etc.
The hard exception error is one of those random appearances, in my testing it happened once in 15 win11 installs.
No idea why m$ removed/hidden the ribbon on explorer as it makes things easier, as some options are not found on the new slim version. But for now we can use it again -- until they fully remove it. Im still wondering why they want to copy apple's launch/start menu dock thing. Change for change's sake i guess?
My preference is to either hide the taskbar search icon or have it just the magnifying glass mainly because windows's search is not as good as 3rd party search programs like everything search.
I just reinstalled by deactivating setupcomplete. Same for the shortcut. It doesn't launch explorer, but once launched it works fine. Right click menu, minimize/restore window. For the search I hide the icon and use DOpus for that.
Not sure why it not working as normal as i not altered anything about the explorer icon. The start menu/taskbar slim xml only touches the edge icon and it actually is set to show the explorer icon. That area not touched if the the mrp slim menu option not used. Win 11 xml is slightly different to win 10 version but i wonder if ms messing about with w10 taskbar now?
