Uploaded the fixed RC2 for beta testers Sorted the issue with the Defender not operating even though the options to disable/unlock etc was not used. It took a couple of days and many installs to narrow the problem down and managed to get MRP 158 stable again. RC3 will have code updates to the disable w10 defender option but that will have to wait until tomorrow now. There may be a small issue with the Edge shortcut and preloading options as i had to revert back several bits of code while i was fixing the other issues but i will sort those out when i get time. Basically edge may open full screen on windows 10 but on win 11 it don't...
It will be when i add the code into the disable w10 defender option tomorrow as that certainly does stop defender scanning in its tracks, either manually clicking scan will get ignored and any scheduled scan is disabled too. Plus i got no errors about it is not switched on etc and most defender gui options are greyed out and turned off. Sadly the disable defender option wont work on w11 due to Tamper Protection being hard coded and not able to program it with a script to turn it off during oobe stages. The tv is calling , been on PC since 4am with a short break for shopping and dinner then back to the keyboard and im sure over 14 installs of w10 trying to fix the issues...
I not uploaded the old RC2a,b,c,d... as there was other issues in the OS caused by the code problems such as WU failed to install latest CU - hopefully sorted that too as quite a lot has been done that has been reverted and rewrote, it is a lot more efficient as far as i can tell and with now not having two routines merged as one with flags to separate them is better. I was trying to cut down on code bloat but it went a bit haywire It not bloated now as i have removed a good chunk of duplicate code and a few more chunk will get removed tomorrow as they are now redundant.
MRP 158 RC3a is looking promising External scripts such as Usertweaks is now being run again same with SetupComplete, no idea why they suddenly stopped being run by MRP (Usertweaks) or the Windows Setup (SetupComplete). Removed more redundant code which has shaved off about 2kb or about 1000 lines UnlockDefenderv1 = OK Delete SmartScreen = OK Disable SmartAppControl = OK Defender scans again.. Next will be to test Disablew10Defender - now i think this could cause issues with CU installations, no idea why but it may of been my ISO/USB image being from Nov 2023, downloading July 2024 iso as i type.... If the DisableDefender option is causing OS issues then i will put a warning message in the Creator when you select this option so that the user is informed of the possible side effects.
Well the w10 disable defender certainly stops it working BUT there is other issues like setupcomplete is not run or any other scripts plus CU's wont install... I think i will temporarly remove that option for now as way too many issues and the start menu/taskbar/system tray not always work either.... If you want to disable/remove defender i think it best to use other tools about as i not want to cause these major issues.
Uploaded mrp158 rc3 for beta testers Disable defender has been removed for now. Updated the creator to be a bit wider and partly dpi scaling to 125% above that it looks ugly. Stable again which is the important thing. Setupcomplete and usertweaks etc will run now as the disable defender routine somehow upset windows setup.
Setupcomplete etc fails to run which is strange because nothing is deleted. Think i have narrowed it down to the edge options either preloading or the shortcut ones. Why, I am not sure but if those edge options not selected all appears to run. Will resume my tests later today.
Will check upload queue in the morning as not at pc at moment. I'm sure I uploaded 4c to the webspace.
MRP 158 RC5 uploaded for beta testers Creator is slightly better DPI aware still a bit to go but more readable (i hope) on hires monitors. Added more log enteries.
GUI QT v1.04-RC2 uploaded for beta testing Updated the DPI Aware routine it hopefully will look better on 120% but 150%+ will look messy but that would require a total re-write of the entire GUI QT which i not going to do at this time.
