You need to run the query tool and post results.txt file for me to figure out the issue. Thus why on first post of this thread in big red letters it says to run query tool first to find out if supported. You don't need to use the autounattend.xml unless you really want to but I will check it out. People really do need to read the first post through. If no msdm table with oem-dm key in bios then no win 8.x activtion , only branding will take place.
On first post of this thread... End users can edit/extract or omit the OEM's.7z file only. All other files are required! Then add it yourself if you wish just make sure the image is under the 256kb limit.
I got query tool finished with error handling for other languages. Now I am testing the .xml file for win 8.x to make sure it works. Update: Installing apps now then should be done...no errors of any sort. Ok, it is done and .xml file worked perfectly so must be an error on the end users behalf. Tested and worked with project...no errors or failures. I will update the links now with new query tool v7.0 build 3. I will include it in main project also so that link as well will be updated. Give me sometime to upload.
@xeroxan READ FIRST POST! You have no msdm table in your bios so no activation of win 8.x is possible. Use kms activation alt. @vphuc81 Run pid checker to find out what OS that key matches too. If not same windows version then failure occurs. (Windows 8.1 Core with Bing) If your machine has a msdm table then make sure to remove your personal key (win8.x msdm table keys are individual, not shared) from the Results.txt file before posting here.
just a question. tried running on an old nec notebook and end up with blue screen after finishing copying and setup the windows... so not all computer are supported right?
Your blue screen was not caused by this project. Your manufacture is included but you didn't say what OS you were trying to install. If you wished to check if it was supported all you had to do is run the query tool first. Its in big red letters on the first post of this thread. Blue screens are usually caused by hardware/driver. Check your dump files to find out what is causing your BSOD.
I tried to use the tool on a fresh installed windows 7 machine. Machine was already installed and so I could not add to the ISO. But in the past that was not a problem. Because in the past I just put the scripts folder inside the windows/setup/ folder and ran the OOBE file with administrator rights. But when I do this with the new version it doens't work, the decompile is not working i think. Because when I run the decompile manually with administrator right nothing happens, only yhe OEM's.7z is removed. It would be nice if the tool can also be used on installed windows machines as in the past.
You cant compare this project to the old one....its not the same, we have moved on. If you use the project like it is instructed, it will always work. The decompile is working perfectly because it didn't allow you to do the install that way. If you put the $oem$ folder in the sources folder of your iso/media, it will work. This reduces some who sell oem replacement media with this project included (adding to install.wim and end users don't know about it and get ripped off). Some images are locked when at desktop, only system brand changer can unlock them from desktop thus why Alphawaves created his tool which I link to in my signature. If you are looking for a desktop version with nice gui to install branding then look at my signature and click on System Brand Changer by Alphawaves.
I noticed that the query tool v7.0 build 3 did not dump the cert file. I updated first post with new version of query tool (v7.0 Build 4) to correct this, sorry. I also added it to main project download link as well. First post links updated.
