Just to illustrate that everything old can be new again. The 1936 recording of Lotte Lenya singing "Moon of Alabama". From their first album "The Doors" (1967), Jim Morrison and The Doors playing "Alabama Song".
John Sutherland: Interesting. Had no idea that Doors song was a cover. Bowie covered it too (which I thought was a cover of the Doors song, lol). --------- weekend kickoff:
Here's another cover for you. The metal band Motorhead doing their version of David Bowie's "Heroes". If you're a fan of the TV series "Sons of Anarchy", then you'll recognize this one. From the album "The World is Yours", the song "Brotherhood of Man", a dark insight into the nature of humanity. "Born to lose, lived to win" - R.I.P. Lemmy Kilmister
Thanks for the Motorhead, JS. Funny thing, the guys in Motorhead never considered themselves metal. Lemmy was always quoted as saying they played rock and roll. But, of course, they were metal. I saw them play many years ago at a club in Phoenix. It was by far the loudest show I've ever been to. It was so loud that my ears were completely overwhelmed and all that could be heard were "pressure waves". I don't know how those guys didn't go deaf, lol. Here's an old Bowie video. This apparently was the most expensive one ever made (up to that point). Always have loved the bass plucking in this song. And the video's got an old-school, bizarre feeling.
