Maybe... Do you have any bootable dvds? I would try to test one first to make sure even those boot before wasting your time.
Well in the meantime, you can try getting a fresh iso and actually using RUFUS this time. I think you might have missed a step in the usb process. Perhaps you didn't bootsect it to support UEFI booting or something weird like that. RUFUS knows the rules... You can find a fresh iso in the repository.
Well, if a DVD won't boot, it's likely a problem with your system hardware. So give the dvd method a try, and good luck.
