Yup not had my coffee at the time Just not sure why he does not make his own Windows 7 OEM disk with HP certificate or what all the fuss about taking laptop to Germany without a restore DVD... make one is what I am saying to the OP!
Human nature: everybody has his own thinking and mind! Noting wrong with that! How the world would be if everybody like or dislike the same?! If the OP think that it's the best for him to have the original HP Software, so it be. And if he or his sister like to take the laptop abroad, why not?! it's just very normal this days to take the Laptop, Tablet, iPad or whatsoever on travelling! Also noting wrong with that.
That is the whole problem he cannot make an actual Restore dvd once you delete the restoration partition from and HP machine you do not have the option. His only option is to make OEM:SLP DVD (HP or Multi ) or just use Windows 7 Home Premium dvd and use Daz loader or install key and certificate manually. Another point I don't really see what all the fuss is about after all he could have used windows anytime upgrade to ultimate so Windows 7 Home Premium OEM COA key goes for nothing.
Yes guys I am not sure why the OP has made a fuss over not having a recovery DVD in his possesion. If he wants one badly then of course he can buy one and since he erased the partition without making the backups... he will have to put hand in own pocket to fix this issue. Me personally I would do as you say Urie, install Home Premium and then use Daz to install certificate (coffee has filtered to brain now) or make the OEM DVD (as you say HP or Multi) Yes urie also right he could have updated to Ultimate and then the COA is for nought on the bottom of machine. For Mr pisthai, of course anyone can take a computer/tablet anywhere he wishes. My thought was about the thread title that he worries about using a Genuine Windows in Germany, I am not sure that they will load up the machine and check it is genuine at airport as others have said. Like I said earlier this thread seems like an odd one, unless it is just me, but no fighting needed best we all as I said earlier today if you are working.
Oh come on, surely we all know that German customs agents are actually Microsoft employees. btw: I have blown away the recovery partition on a couple of HP laptops, reinstalled Win 7 using Digital River iso's, activated with proper cert+serial, and never lost any sleep over it.
I make the recovery DVD(s) as soon as I get new machine... then I put them in the box and nuke system. That way if you sell machine then you can load it back to factory-slow bloatware.
