I need to modify the BIOS whitelist to allow the use of a PCIE WiFi adapter that isn't on the list. My situation:

    Model: S230U (Twist)
    Manufacturer: Lenovo
    BIOS: Phoenix SecureCore Tiano
    OS: Windows 8, Ubuntu 10.10
    UEFI Bios Rev. 1.56 (GDET96WW)
Original PCI ID of the Broadcom adapter:
    broadcom: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4359&SUBSYS_060714E4&REV_00
PCI ID of the Atheros adapter that I wish to use:
    atheros: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0030&SUBSYS_3116168C

So far I have done the following:
    1) Downloaded the Lenovo GDET96WW BIOS and flashed with the new BIOS
    2) Confirmed good BIOS flash, then used Andy's Phoenix Tool version 2.14 to load the $0AGD000.FL1 image.
    3) Extracted modules
    4) Performed binary search to identify ROM with the old Broadcom vendor and devices codes
    5) Found the module, replaced codes with those from the Atheros that I want to use
    6) Replaced original ROM with patched ROM
    7) Completed Andy's Phoenix Tool and repackaged updated BIOS image
    8) Disabled all UEFI security in the BIOS

My current problem is that the new image wont flash. I tried Winflash, Plash16, and even Lenovo's BIOS CD ISO from a DOS USB stick. Errors produced in all situations but fortunately I haven't bricked it yet.

    Questions:
    1) I have seen a few references to needing "HW programmer" to flash the modded BIOS but I haven't found ANY discussion about what "HW programmer" is. A software utility? EPROM hardware? Please advise!
    2) I've seen a few mentions in posts that I'm out of luck with Phoenix SecureCore Tiano. Has there been any success overcoming this kind of BIOS?

    Thanks // C
