Hello ! I need to know if is possible to make a local hard drive backup, because the new tool include in Windows 10 want a external hard drive, but is not possible to do this for now in my Office ... If is possible with DISM or any software except Acronis is appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help !
Macrium Reflect is free for private use and can make backups anywhere you like, but obviously into a separate partition to the operating system. used it for years, got me out of many awkward situations.Make sure to make a recovery disk.
Ya it`s possible to make a complete image of your hard drive, a good program for that which i use is Acronis True Image. I store a compete image of my systems hard drive to an external drive. If i run into very serious problems and have to restore my system drive i can when ever i like.
1. Dism++ (supports online hot backup) 2. (if available) Switch to ServerRdsh and install Server Local Backup (needing modification for migration). And switch back when Backup is finished.
Can you shrink your partition? If so then create another partition and use that for backup. Macrium or EaseUS, would then be a good choice.
You could also check out DriveImage XML. It backs up to any place you want and supports hot backup by using the Volume Shadow Service for backing up open files.
in recovery mode u can use dism there is a tool for capture online system to wim file but i cant remember the name or find it
