I backed up and replaced the HDD for a SSD from a Dell computer. I now need to recover things with it booted. Bookmarks and a few other things.

I boot the HDD on my other machine and it seems fine and then log-off. I forget the bookmarks and try to go back in and then it lags out real bad and locks up. I try again and it locks up entering desktop. and now won't boot at all. Not even safe boot.

I insert SSD and all is fine. I add the 2TB as second drive (D:) to run chkdisk, but it won't let me access it saying permission error.

I fire up disk management and it shows all partitions on the drive and they all say healthy.

I did make an image that I can restore, but I find it strange that it won't let me access it anymore.

Any thoughts on what locked me out?

Could be the drive is failing... showing the signs.
Boot from a Linux base media to see if drive mounts > if yes
    recover at will
    if no joy >
    toss it:blowup:
