I have a dell computer with Vista business OEM preinstalled. I got a recovery dvd from dell which unlike others, just carry the windows installation files + logos and labelling from dell. Now, I wish to install the ultimate edition of windows vista from the same OEM DVD as I have the product key corresponding to the Vista ultimate edition. So, is there anyway out so that I can modify the required files just to install the ultimate edition of vista from the vista business DVD. I have heared that all the editions of Vista are included on the same DVD and it's the product key, which determines which version to install. Is there anyone to help ??
it's not that simple with a dell dvd, you need to edit the PID.TXT file in the sources folder and change the key from Business to Ultimate there is also a PID.TXT file in boot.wim image number 2 you need to mount that and delete or edit the PID.TXT file there also. If possible you would be better downloading vista SP2 and editing that you can make it oem disk read stickies.
