Installing XP from USB is tricky and doesn't always work. The problem is that XP doesn't initialize the USB controller during the first boot and doesn't detect the drive. It may also get stuck during the install. If Rufus works, use that. If it doesn't work with multiboot, it's just because XP is old.
only one is OS the other are MUI Code: SW_CD_SA_WIN_FUNDAMENTALS_LPC_2006_ENGLISH_MULTILANG_WINFLP_CORE_CD_MLF_X12-27765.ISO
okay Sirji EFA11ji MUI = Multilingual User Interface ?? Will this winflp be good for the p4 512mb rig ? cuz I've tried the xpsp3 but it is very sluggish, was thinking about getting puppy linux on it ...
Why don't you try it then make your own mind up also you will need windows xp VLK key to install it, and when you login you need to use Administrator as name and the password you entered when installing. P.S. PM sent
TYSM supa Mod for your support I've been trying out everything I can on those old rigs, from windows 7s, different flavored Linuxes to the windows xps I'm loosing myself on those machines , thought I'd give puppy linux as the last linux try..
i hope i didn't get it wrong but exactly what programs would you be running on your 10year+ old PC? you mentioned "internet usage, ms office, lite gaming". would you be able to get your hand on some LGA775 motherboard instead? 512MB RAM is insufficient for modern apps, firefox already took around half that memory with a few tabs on. your system will no doubt run out of RAM soon. you need wise choice of addons, eg. use ublock over adblock plus. or do you already have a light weight browser in mind?
Well at least try WinFLP considering member went out of his way to give you link. The minimum requirements for Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs are as follows: Intel Pentium 233 or compatible 64 MB of RAM 610 MB of hard drive space 800x600 screen resolution The recommended requirements (from Microsoft) are as follows: Pentium II 300 or compatible 128 MB of RAM 1 GB hard drive 800x600 screen resolution.
Yes Sir, I will try it out first ..but....... regardless of the requirements, I've read some reviews about flp and kinda found out that it wont be that useful "thanks" again in writing, to all the tech supporters esp. EFA11 Sirji who puts his life on us
Why do you want so bad for this machine to work? Just install some light version of Windows XP and it should work, unless the machine originally came with an older version of windows... I also have a computer with Pentium 4 and 1GB of RAM and works perfectly fine... I don't see how you couldn't get it to work yet.
A LOT of computers shipped with 512MB ram for a lot of years with XP pro and Home. This will run the machine, but not to current standards. You know, this may run with Win 7 as well you just have to put the performance in context. I cant see why this is even a discussion??
