Recently, every time Windows starts I get a UAC request to allow Net Command to make changes.
It states the location is c:\windows\system32\net.exe.

I select allow and Windows runs without issues. however if I don't allow Windows seems ok til shutdown, when it hangs.

Any idea why this has cropped up now, and how to resolve it?

Net.exe manage the Windows Accounts, change apssword, delete, etc...

It's not normal, probably have a program starting with this request, check in the "msconfig"

Looking in msconfig I see that selective startup is checked - should that be changed to normal startup? I should mention that I use EasyBCD to dual boot 7/Ubuntu.

EDIT: Further searching in msconfig I noticed "IMFservice" which is started by IOBIT Malware Fighter. I've dumped it and that seems to have cured the problem.
Thanks Josh for your time and for pointing me in the right direction.
