Successfully modded an ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 Motherboard BIOS version 1005 for SLIC 2.1 using SSV3 method with out of box defaults.

    Many Thanks.

    Hello.

this is my 5th mod for the same MB for a totoal of 9 mods. All prev mods worked fine till last MSI version for MS7388.v79
I followed the same steps as I did on the past with the exception this bios version have included slic 2.0 on module f0 (according with ami tool 1.61). however I just ignored that and flashed the mobo.
After flashinp i didn't found problems with exception bios do not have slic at all.
Is there any reading or tutorial for this kind of bios?
    Thanks.

should be straight forward mod. Maybe try the F0 mod and be sure you clear cmos and load defaults after flash. sometimes flashing original before mod helps also. Link to bios and I can look at it...

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

    Hi people,

I've just modded version 5.43 of the mainboard IPIBL-LB, which uses an AMI bios. It all went well, the flash was successful and windows activates correctly.

However, I was in doubt when I had to select the manufacturer in amitool. The mainboard is found inside HP computers, but in reality it was manufactured by ASUS.

I chose ASUS in the drop-down box selection. Was it the correct choice?

What do you do in these situations? Do you select the brand name (HP in my case)? Or do you select the REAL manufacturer (ASUS in my case)??

    Kind regards.

    eol,
If it's an AMI or Awrd BIOS a backup can be used for modification.

And what about the risk to upload the modified BIOS that this method and in this way?
And why amitool says "Boot block checksum not valid". I this hi risk?

I attempted to mod your Original Bios backup with the AMITool and it Failed.
I would NOT use a bios mod unless you know who made it and how they did it and you trust them to have done it properly.
A manual mos is probably the way to go on that Bios, if it is possible.
I would recommend you use the Loader by Daz for that PC.

I tried again to modify the bios. I went up to the extraction module 1b_slic.bin 1B. But I failed to replace because the Replace does not compress. I do not know why. Compresses only when inserting. But I noticed something else. Original 1B module in the BIOS is 152,208 (317,595-uncompressed) and after his removal is suddenly free 304136 or removed if something else. After inserting the 1b_slic.bin 151,584 is still free space in the BIOS. But then it is probably in a different place in the BIOS. While it's true mmtool resulting from the table. However, you can not replace the 1B module compressed after extraction. Replace does not compress already! Only gives a message that "not enough space to replace the module." But it is strange because 1B_slic.bin file has the same size as the 1B module (uncompressed) 317,595 bytes.
Moreover, extraction is not doing compresses and stores from 1b_slic.bin only with Bios without SLIC.
Can I somehow compress the file size 1B_slic.bin for such a module 1B that has been possible to change without deleting and there was currently "not enough space"?
Therefore, I am afraid that during this operation something has been removed from the bios. Is it possible that the module 1B was in another place in the BIOS after inserting "simple method"? Does it make any difference?

    Regards
    Thank you for your help

    p.s.
But I'd rather modifications to the bios (slic mode) than the Loader by Daz. :)
