What are the the most compatible slic files (brand)? I tested Acer. Doesn't work. How can I verify if what I did was the right thing? Is there a way to test this? Will Vista+SP2 activate with bios+2.1 slic? edit: I get an error: cannot generate slic module.
Acer and gigabyte has no Cert as of yet. It is noted in the files..all others work.. I do not know what you did with the modded bios, but the original needs a microcode update removed to insert the Slic code..This is more advanced, but the option is available to you. The tool can remove the first one for you.. I do not know when you get this error.. Follow the previous directions and let me know..
did all that 1. I chose hp slic with hp cert without removing the microcode using the original bios. cannot generate slic module. 2. I also removed the microcode. The same. cannot generate slic module. edit: I get 19 valid microcode updates found in the log window. Is this normal?
I knew that certificates are only used for activation, but I assumed that the box should be filled in. Sorry about that. SOLVED
I finally made it work.) It was a long names convention issue. I tried to run it from my desktop. c:\users\kukubau\awardtool\.....I should've known better. Damn it! THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU MASTER!
Very good. A a rule, I run it from a folder on my systemdrive.. I am very happy you made it work..breathe easier now!!
I am about to flash my mobo. Should my modded bios be identical with the bios you modded for me(raid one) or the hash(md5, sha-1) is different every time? Because now they are different, although every step was identical. Thank you again
Another thing. what is the right command for awdflash. I never used syntaxe with it before. I found two posts by you: In one you said: AWDFLASH.EXE bios.bin /py/sn/f/cc/r in the other one (actually a text file): AWDFLASH.EXE bios.bin /py /sn /cd /cp /cc I looked over the awdflash commands and I'm not sure which. /cd /cp cd: Clear DMI Data After Programming cp: Clear PnP(ESCD) Data After Programming greets
Just a quick summary of my SLIC 2.1 experiment. I have a Gigabyte MB (P35-DS3R), trying with latest BIOS (F13 - added XpressRecovery 2): 1) 0+2 - not working at all, can't pass the booting process (i.e. can't pass DMI Pool Data Validation) 2) SSV3 - It's kind of working, but replaces the EPA logo and in general the system is quite slow 3) Dynamic - not working at all, system can't boot 4) ISA - this is working for now, booting seems OK, SLIC table also seems OK, not sure if it can active a W7, but seems working in general P.S I didn't change any of Advanced Option settings. Also using the Dell SLIC/SLP from the archive. Tested version 1.12.
For this GB board, ISA is best. Newer boards REQUIRE SSv3 as you cannot get into bios otherwise.. GA-p35-* and GA-EP35-* like the ISA mod very much. These mods come down to experience..the status quo does not always work.. Do not experiment further..you have all the info you need..
AWDFLASH.EXE bios.bin /py /sn /cd /cp /cc This is the copmmonly accepted version. The /f and /r is not necessary for you...only certain cases... download the bios file from abit and there is an runme.bat and an abitfae.bat or something similar these have the correct commands for abit bios..
OK thanks for the info, i was confused by the recommendations for SSV3, but in the end all goes down to testing, anyway i wonder if i can get methods working with different settings, but i'll wait first for the certs/keys.
Nope..they have been tested ad nauseam.. OEM7 may work..ISA and SSv1 was the trick with these.. If it aint broke, dont fix it..
For now i'm not really sure that isn't broken, i think the biggest problem would be the S3 come-back, but i think with ISA theres no problem, right? btw is the microcode in the BIOS intact? Cause some of the reason for this update was the newly supported processors.
