No problem letting you know. Didn't want to waste your time. I always try things myself, but just don't want to go one step too far! Good to know the tool won't let me break the BIOS though. Thanks again. Taz

Just done my first BIOS slic 2.1! Aopen MP965-DR v1.09 DELL SLIC & cert for Win 7 Flashed from DOS USB drive and worked great. All activated fine. So easy I can't believe MS ever thought they would get away with this method of activation. ATB
Because you looked at the SLIC.LOG??? I suppose if you were to formulate a more directed, intelligible question, I would have a useful answer for you.. You didnt even identify the bios you are working with. My crystal ball is on the fritz....... Not all BIOS sum 0..If that is your question. Other than that......??? What is your knowledge level for the bios mod/structure????
Was this the factory D/L or the lejabeach one?? I agree that ISA is best to start..The mod I give you was modified 0+1.. I think that with XP, the OS would need repair install for ACPITBL manipulation such as SSv3 or OEM7 mod..
I tried both the factory and lejabeach, same result either way... So, I modified the factory with ISA and it worked. 0+1 did not work. 911medic: I don't have a filehosting service, do you want me to send you the ISA one I did or do you want to just make a new ISA one based on the factory BIOS and post it here for others? UPDATE: I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and it activated properly.
Identify as HP Mediasmart? I currently have my own Windows Home Server running, but want to be able to utilize the unique functionality of the HP Mediasmart server. What I propose to do is (from reading elsewhere) change the BIOS identifiers to: [slp strings] f000,e049,6,hpqoem That said, I would like to build this system from the ground up. Could anyone recommend a motherboard to modify this on? Additionally, has anyone already done this before? Thanks!
Hi Andy, I was going to post about a "cannot shrink EPA module" error, but after reading through 30+ pages I found an answer, Use another PC. ??? Kinda strange, but it worked. So, instead I'm posting to say Thank You for the great tools. And to make a little suggestion. One of the PC's I used was a Netbook, with a 1024x600 res. With a resolution like that its almost impossible to use the 'Advanced' menus. Just thought I'd let you know incase you were going to update the tools again.
Hi abbzer0, It been done plenty of times, including on VM's. Head over to the 'Windwos Server' section. Sebus has posted alot of info on doing this.
