    Hi everyone,

I'd like to confirm I'm unable to mod any gigabyte bios from my Windows 7 ultimate x64 PC. I always get an error message I have to use another computer with Vista 64 installed to perform normaly with awardtool v1.27.

is that problem already knows ? (yes I guess !;))
will later versions be ompatible with WIN 7 x64

    Thank by advance:D:D

runs fine for me on 7 64bit, all versions have, you need to have .net framework installed

Likewise, I have just moved over to Win7 x64, no issues here. All the tools used for Award are win32. The only issues are LHA255 and AMIMM used in the other tool.

Give us a screenshot of the error message and a link to this BIOS.

    same problem

    Hi,
i have the same PC / BIOS: Medion MD2001 (OEM Asus CUV4X-M)
and i have the same problems:
I tried to mod the BIOS on my own with the Award SLIC Mod 1.28. But what i brewed with this Award SLIC tool doesn't work. And my PC also is still running Windows XP

ISA: SLIC can't be found in ACPI (with Everest)
Pubkey: SLIC can't be found in ACPI (with Everest)
OEM7: XP loads for one second and suddenly the PC does an automatic reset. After that, XP loads for a second an get stuck with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. Flashing back to original BIOS all went normal again.
SSV3: Award SLIC Mod Error: ACPI Module must follow main module
0+2: Award SLIC Mod Error: ACPI Module must follow main module

That ISA and Pubkey don't work was forseeable because these two methods don't alter the ASPI Table.
But the method wich sounds best (0+2) provoce an error in the Award Tool and OEM7 with ACPITBL at end causes a failure wich "kocoman" has already posted. The PC doesn't boot.

Is there any chance to solve this problem?
Probably if i'll try it manualy? Is it actually possible to mod this bios automatic or manualy?
I have also made a request in the "Award & AMI Bios mod requests" but they are ignoring me ;) It seems the Auto Tools can't do it  Does the tool (or i) something wrong or ist it just not doable?

I'm thankfull for every help. Even for: It's impossible, forget it!

I had an TUV4X but it broke somehow (does not turn on, sometimes, sometimes BSOD..) I liked the 4 DIMM slot vs 2 in the CUV4X.. Anyway I tried the methods suggested by Andyp (ISA and OEM7) because I am not familiar with the other methods.

The OEM7 has RDST incompatibility, if you put in an Win7 install disc, it will say the RDST error. For an installed Win7 it will just keep rebooting.

As to the ISA, the toolkit does not report the SLIC present.

For now I've tried another motherboard, Aopen AX34-U with the ISA mod and it detects SLIC 2.1 fine. Same VIA chipset (as the TUV4X I think.. not sure about the CUV4X), same Award 6.0 Bios...

After a bit more testing, if successful, I will upload the bios file for Aopen AX34-U

I mod my Gigabyte BIOS with 1.28 tool. Flashing method is SSV3.
Testing install win7 with old mobo Gigabyte GA-K8NS s754 (award), with 2 ram stick
    1. Win7 can't finished the installation. Hang at "expanding installation..."

    2. Remove 1 stick, Win7 can install and activated with proper certificate & OEM key.

    3. With Win7 already activated, putting back the ram module, after login to desktop, it suddenly hang (with 1 stick is not a problem), & some device not working like usb mouse, audigy card

    4. Flashing back with original bios, (win7 back to trial mode) with 2 stick, i can play araound win7 without any problem.

Tried mod with ISA method, i can finish win 7 installation with 2 ram stick, get activated and using it without any minor problem.

So Andy like you said in 1st post, SSV3 best for Gigabyte, but is not working for me.
Or maybe i doing something wrong? when mod the bios i never touch an advanced button.

If ISA works that's fine. Just to be on the safe side, run memtest86+ to check the memory also.

Both method (SSV3 & ISA) already tested with memtest86+, no problem found.
But like i said before, with SSV3, i only can use 1 memory stick.
What the big different between SSV3 and ISA method.
Btw thanks for the tool Andy :)

Try an SSV3 mod and select EPA at end as ssv3 forced method.

If I had to modify the bios with the 1.28 version of the tool, do I need to modify my bios again with the new version of tool ?
    Thanx
