Can anyone send me a link to Windows 7 SP1 iso starter or homebasic link to me install on a older computer?

    Thank you

Maybe a language specification could help?

Starter is on every multi msdn x86 win 7 iso, on the ultimate iso, on the pro iso, etcetc... maybe you already have the ultimate x86 iso?

If yes, just remove the ei.cfg and all will be available.

My advise would be to install any sku except starter, there is not much difference in performance between the others.

Afaik, windows 7 doesn't use pid.txt and from what i tested it doesn't use the pid.txt.

Original ei.cfg from the Ultimate iso, combined with the pid.txt, containing my official win 7 homepremium coem key, no worky.

Deleted the ei,cfg and left the pid.txt, not worky either, just shows all sku's available, and that's the best to do.

OEM or VOLUME or RETAIL in ei.cfg mostly only will set the eula to be shown and the channel, the install gets set to, when you insert any working key, the channel will be set according to the used key anyway.

Hi! I've just test installed "7601.24214.180801-1700.win7sp1_ldr_escrow_CLIENT_PROFESSIONAL_x64FRE_en-us.iso" in VirtualBox. At user creation screen, I've pressed Ctrl+Alt+F3 and reboot into OOBE (Audit) mode. It's trying to log in as Administrator, but surprisingly generates an error message that "The user name or password is incorrect." and would not log-in. Any idea would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: I've bypassed the admin password, but I guess I would not trust this ISO in production environment at all.

Again, grab a clean media refresh iso, simplix it(with aboddi's addons if you need them) and you're done.

These "new" iso's are not even worth discussing anymore(in my opinion).

I've always thought starter was the best fit for older pc (old netbook etc) for lower resource usage (CPU/RAM): isn't correct anymore?

Starter is a minor edition, more aimed at 3rd world countries. it's limited to run a few processes simultaneously to fit very low spec x86 systems (yes like those ancient eeepc's with just 1GB ram). It also has other limitations.

For normal older systems, home basic will be the better choice, but there is not much difference in performance between basic >>> ultimate..
