I have to change my motherboard. I don't do any gaming. Main uses are for downloading, picture and video editing, and file server. I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate installed. When I reinstall the O/S should I; 1. Load Windows 7 and upgrade to Windows 10. 2. Load windows 10 with Microsoft Toolkit. 3. Load Windows 7 and let it roll.
1. Load Windows 7 and upgrade to Windows 10. But do it only on your new motherboard. The upgrade will be an OEM copy (automatically) and tie itself to the hardware.
It is really gonna depend on how the OP obtained win 7. With that said I just went through a PC upgrade from AMD to Intel..so new motherboard, cpu and ram. I previously had Win 10 activated with my retail 8 pro key through upgrading. I opted for a clean install of the latest TH1 release. SO clean install needed. It would only install home no matter what. So I tried something, let it install, then entered the generic win 10 pro key we previously used. Google serach. It then updated, download some things, and changed to pro. Reboot or two..then once again back to win 10 setting page, change product key again and entered my win 8 pro retail key and it activated again as device with digital entitlement.
