When I first installed wdp I was pretty confused with the metro ui, I was kind of in a hurry so I just turned it off. I think it would be really neat setup if ms allowed those with dual monitors to set one screen as the metro and the other as the desktop. Best of both worlds!
That's likely cuz ya boy and MDL's favorite nonleaker (but NDA breaker) is doing lackluster reviews on builds and taking screenies after modding his ui to his liking. That's one way of doing a review, I leave it up to the community to decide if its best or if a leak would clear up the confusion and add much needed info.
Yeah, you're right. But I see a w95 (as I remember) trash icon, and the folder icons are from Vista (more lol)
Why change the icons if there's nothing wrong with them? Sure, they could look more Metro, but maybe MS realized most people still using the desktop often don't like Metro. 8220 is nowhere near complete, not even good enough to be released as CP. Too many bugs, such as the ocassional explorer.exe crash (happened twice for me) when you try to open the "device" charm.
This os just looks like a soup of all previous ms os's cooked together to give Windows 8! and it is the most ugliest mess of an os i have ever seen!! just my personal opinion!

The Windows 7 desktop UI *itself* is not consistent. Besides, I have, many times, referred to the desktop in the DP (and obviously the CP) as a *superset UI*. However, as far as consistency goes, Windows hasn't had a consistent UI since 95/NT4. If you really want to pick nits, the Immersive UI (despite the *superset UI* nature) is more consistent than Windows 7's UI.
@csnouna in the WDP, windows phone doesn't work very well. Do you know if it will work better with WCP?
That would be nice! I now realized that the size of the tiles does not depend on the resolution, but if the device is a touch device or not! In the official videos always when they use a notebook without touch, the tiles are small. On tablets they are large. Can be seen on how much space is beside "Internet Explorer" on the IE tile.
Guys, for crying out loud Those icons are not the default ones, IT WAS CANOUNA THAT AS JOKE MODIFIED THEM!!!! (Thanks Canouna, for people like me that use Windows since 3.11, it's a cool joke ) Jesus, please people do some research before assuming stuff like this is real On a side note, Microsoft, maybe it's time you actually start removing crap like this, that makes 0 sense still be present 15 years later?
I'm not paranoid, just curious.. I know it's kind of random, but I think it would be fun to track all the ip's that visit this thread and see how many of them belong to MS.. = )
