As far as I know you can swipe from the sides even if the monitor has raised edged, like my Ideapad S10-3t
Only the first pixel on the sides are sensitive for swiping, and on my monitor that's impossible.. I can't find any monitors where the screen and edges are seemless
But some touchscreens (including mine) map touches near the edge directly to the edge. For example if the contact point is 5px away, win8 thinks that I touched exactly the edge.
Some also have a few mm of black space around the screen, which makes it easier to find that first pixel
IMHO he is writing from a public russian toilet with fast WI-FI. Also, none can understand what he wants to say.
