Just installed Update 2 and I don't see any difference. Quite unnecessary update if you ask me. ISO would be very nice but I doubt we get one.

Nope, it only supersedes a few updates, and the previous rollups are not among them.

Btw,guys, isn't it amusing how many people are still complaining about how Update 2 doesn't change a lot... when there wasn't an Update 2,since they changed the release model to something resembling a rolling release in the same vein as LMDE or Chrome OS ... which was pointed out repeatedly in the discussion threads?
As for the August update - I wonder if the push to make devices running Windows 8.1 function as Miracast receivers the groundwork to turning the xbox one into a true HTPC replacement. It does seem to mesh well with the rumours about the improvements of the console's media capabilities (Video On Glass, new DVB-T/T2/C tuner attachment..)

You mean the sidebar instead of the taskbar?
Do you have the show apps in taskbar option enabled?

Uhm, this update2 is a tempest in a teapot!
Windows users feel punked a little bit, huh?

Finally! It was really annoying that after you start Metro app from Start Screen and then minimize it or close it, you're redirected to Desktop. It stupid idea. If I start app from Start Menu, I want to find me again in it after I close app.

    EDIT
Stupidity continues. After closing Metro app running on desktop, it still redirects to Start Menu.

    Dear Microsoft,
    how about this idea:

    1. If I start Metro App from Start Screen, after closing it take me to Start Screen again;

    2. If I start Metro App from taskbar, or after starting it from Metro, I go to desktop and then open app again, after closing it take to the Desktop again.

How hard is to understand that???

That it was what annoyed me too but now they switched to the logic behaviour. I'm quite sure they modified a couple of other things as well which we didn't find yet

Uhm,no - first of all, this wasn't Update 2 (and as I said just a couple of posts earlier) - it's been known for a couple of weeks now that instead of one big-ish update 'someday', we're going to be seeing features added in on almost monthly basis. So,I guess the only people that will feel somewhat irked are the sukinsin88's of the forum, that fail to grasp that it's better to get some new stuff as soon as it's ready,as opposed to unnecessarily bundling for release .. someday.

Not sure what you guys are in about, they didn't change jacks**t on the behaviour.

You need to enable the "when i sign/close apps go to desktop" option, for it to throw you to the Desktop.

When you enable it, it still throw you to start screen.
Only if you enable the option "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen..." it throw you to desktop.

Dunno, everything's behaving as usual on a relatively vanilla 8.1 Pro x64. Perhaps the update reset the flag for that option on a small subset of devices?
You do realize that's exactly what Shenj wrote??

this is what I believe as well since mentioned behaviour now was switched exactly the other way around. I checked with several machines and found exactly this now

Oh well,I guess everyone's a winner in the Patch Tuesday Bingo :)

Btw,any of you lot actually getting the new Touchpad options or it's tied just to certain vendors only (since I'm just not seeing it on a couple of recent laptops packing Synaptics touchpads)?
