The interactive tiles were a MS Research project that Naiveuser discovered, it got pulled soon after. So yes, there is a point in saying who discovered it. As for the September preview, I'm sure something will be previewed as both Brad and MJF independently reported it. The only question is what exactly. Threshold? Windows 9? Windows 365?
Just to clarify on this, what I know is that the watermark on current builds has changed to include the word 'Preview' and no longer references Windows 8...other than that, I was told a preview would be 'soon' but no hard timeline given.
Tks Brad, I remember in win8 times, In May 2011 Canouna mentioned "a new name in the win8 builds", then in June an OEM guy posted screen-shot of "Windows Developer Preview" in PCBeta, later in Sept The WPD was released(which came as a surprise since MS didn't say anything prior to it) - that was the time-line for WDP.
the 'best' (not really good though) opportunity I can think of for Microsoft to release Threshold technology preview is before or at the TechEd Europe conference.
Things I have learned here in the last month: 1. a lot of info is BS 2. a lot of info is not BS 3. if one's life depends on being the 1st to leak/discover/report/whatever info, one should seek psychiatric help 4. if one feels the need to belittle others in order to feel good about themselves, one should seek psychiatric help 5. if one's life depends on whether a change to an OS is called an update, an upgrade, a service pack, or an EIEIO, one really needs to get a sex life that involves another being. 6. a sense of humor is more important than a sense of what the next version of Windows will be named. I might have learned other stuff, if I did, I for got it already From my point of view, Murphy78 and PaulDesmond have made the most USEFUL contributions to MDL recently. NO offense to anybody else's contributions.
most of the s**t on here is speculation unless Microsoft employees actually post on here its all bulls**t. Even from them 2 they are just subscribers who wait for updates to download from msdn thats why this thread needs to be closed and a windows 9 topic started.
I disagree with you slightly. The speculations here are drawn from various postulations by different people of different background which are used to form opinions. They are like forecasting which can go either way to provide idea of an outcome. Some of the speculations came out to be what Microsoft gave us in the August's Windows update. So, I opt we should keep the thread.
You don't need to because it is a prerequisite for the functionality of your system. Do not lose sight of the fact it is a patch as you aren't going to get Windows 9 till next year.
I am very confident Windows will keep the Windows part of coming release as a brand because it is a trademark as well as an obvious identification of the operating system. I guess, by my speculation, it would make sense to have it as Windows 9. WINDOWS 9!
For some it might be what you said but for me it cramps things up while replying different people with different notions. I think, for clarity sake, it is good not to multi-quote different people in a single reply. I may be wrong! Can somebody explain the relevance of multi-quoting different people than being a good etiquette as claimed?
I understand but Windows builds change more then people change their underwear on here so even if someone posts something its not accurate. Until you either see it on windows blogs or MSDN everything I've seen on here except the bldwin conference screenie has been gimmeky and has been disproved
Well, accuracy shouldn't be used to define the way this thread is being viewed. I for one has generally enjoyed the speculations and people opinions in this particular thread more than any other. I don't really know about other people's opinions though. Giving the time and pages, we can agree it has been something worth discussing about. We shouldn't forget this Windows doesn't preclude Windows 9 in anticipation. There is need to keep the thread as it ushers in more information that would be leading to Windows 9 yet still related to Windows 8.1 and its updates.
Multi-quoting different people doesn't make things complicated imo, especially when you separate different people with a line break like this:Multi-quoting is not only good etiquette, it's mandatory on most forums since double-posting is against forum rules. (I don't know about MDL, but I guess they have a similar rule in place) EDIT: I checked and there's no such rule on MDL, only this: But I don't think what you're doing falls under that rule, so no problem.
I never said it complicates reply but cramps replies of different people with different notions. Looking at my post you would agree with me I arguably support 'multi-quoting' the same person posts. However, being the the 'etiquette' of this forum, I would from now on multi-quote posts. My apologies for not adhering to one of the traditions of this forum.
LOL, what's the big deal? Gozzip-medias are one of the most prospering business in many places, we are just sort of paparazzi in computer stuffs.
