Yup, NaiveUser, as you could see, Brandon refered to Threshold as an "Update", but win9 is a new Windows version, not an Update, he probably just included every rumored names, anyway, things would go clearer later. From what I heard(just take it as rumor), the "leaked infos" to MJF/Thurrott are actually carefully monitored by MS, in other words, it's a channel where MS tell the public about things they wish the public to know, but not officially. Whether the press/bloggers "invent" things(like threshold will be named win9 and will be launched in 2015 Apr) along with the "real things", MS just doesn't give a damn, after-all they are not responsible for "leaked infos".
Just like anything at microsoft, lets decide s**t last minute! I really have bad feelings about Windows 9 somehow, may not be what everyone is expecting :3
yup, expectations are premeditated resentments. Expect nothing and be surprised or meh instead of OMG NOOEZ! NOT TEH BUTTON! hah
I dont think Brandon uses the word 'update' to mean exactly 'minor update', or 'update as in Windows 8.1 Update', most likey Threshold will be quite 'major', as 'major' as Blue at least, even youself said it is 'major' right? Of course I realize Microsoft can manipulate the news outlets to test the water or muddy the water or whatever, I'm not specifically biased towards Paul/MaryJo as you imagined, but all these information, except yours, actually have more in common than conflicts, not necessarily so contradictive like you painted, no need to flame other people. We just need more sources to converge.
A small tale: This Jan I chatted with my friend about Thurrott's blog, he said : "Threshold is a update, not windows 9, and expected in early 2015". The plan in OP was from the PCBeta guy in last month, and yes, you could notice that Threshold is supposed to have a preview, MS changes plans from time to time, who knows, Brandon had been away for some months, maybe what he knew is not the latest up-to-date plan, just have to wait and see. A yet smaller tale, the start menu and windowed app shown in Build were not mock-ups, but actually working but buggy features, naturally they wouldn't risk another BSOD-in-demo like Mr. Gates. I don't like to flame people, MJF's case is different, she drew the first blood.
lol speedy gonzales, haven't heard that in forever -ed- oops that is WZ answering a question at RU forum btw
According to rumors, start menu won't be included in Update 2. On the other hand, let's just wait for a leak and will see what Update 2 brings to us.
Right. We've got a few concepts of the Mini Start, this one was what we thought the Start Menu would look like without pinned Modern UI apps.
I want in the next version of windows, the option to choose each app if to update it automatically or not. some of the apps I want update them automatically, but some of them not.
I'm sure if you add a few more swear words to your post, MS will take notice and meet your demands ASAP. ETA Until it is on your machine, believe NOTHING
Slight correction, ETA: Until those isos are published by our dear friends here at MDL forums... YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE...
Afaik there was no official MS announcement that it would be part of Update 2, only assumptions/rumours spreaded by BLOGGERS .
