Ah, you're right, it was Spring '15, not Q1. My mistake Assuming Threshold will RTM about 2-3 months before release (like 8.1 and 8) February/March is more likely (depending on when exactly they'll release)
I don't think you should compare the DP to the TP, the DP was really an Alpha intended to get devs on board for the store. Windows 8 was a major release, Threshold is more like 8.1 which was roughly a year under development.
That's because Windows 8 is more of a transition than upgrade(as in added features). Windows 9 doesn't so much look different from Windows 8 in all ramification but Windows 8 is from Windows 7.
Do we know anything else about the start menu or was the build demo already the final take? What about app-groups and options like icon sizes, multi-row for classic layout etc.?
... and it will be much better for Microsoft if it will not offer such radical changes than Windows 8 They will just continue to correct the damage which has been made and readjust. Windows 8 was pretty "bold", I liked the idea when it came out
Recent builds allow you to maximize the Start Menu to make it act like the Start Screen. You can also make it open in full screen by default (helpful for Surface Pro owners) if you wish. You can turn off (remove from the menu) live-tiles if you want and can just have desktop programs be displayed too.
Anyway apart from Cortana I wonder if there will be any other new apps in windows 9, in the current windows 9 screenshots I've seen there doesn't look to be any new apps.
Usually many apps get updated/released independently and along the major release. Has been the same with Windows 8.1. The question will be, which apps they are going to touch..
Anyone know what happen with August update ? Or you forgot about this and jump over Windows 9 Preview ?
I like the new start menu, it does have some very cool features, and I'm so glad that we can have a full screen start menu, I would raged at the top of my voice if that feature wasn't on the start menu!
