of course it does since only a small amount of machines reported malfunction, guess was only 0.02%, anyway they need to fix it up to 100%
I concur on that statement because the August update worked just fine for me. I haven't experienced any error message since I installed it on my system.
There is no Cortana for us Aussie's on the Windows-8.1 - Phones, so I wonder if it will be the same for us with a Desktop-Version of Cortana ?
I posted this in Neowin, guess I might as well post in MDL too: From what I've heard, there might probably not a win8.2(or whatever), MS changed policy and would probably release the features thru WU as announced in Windows Blog, rumor is that there would be further features in Oct/Nov Updates, so it is actually Update3 or 8.2 being spreaded over the monthly updates. One of the reason for ditching 8.2 is that it needs to have a RTM build no. of 10000, however, some vol clients are still on XP with applications that could have a problem with a 5-digit build no. Although most people are still saying Threshold is Win9, some shifted their minds and said Threshold was originally planned for 8.2, now change to win9, some said Threshold is wWin9 and only needs 1 year for development.... I am not a developer and knows very little about Windows development, so I couldn't really understand the concept, I could have put the idea wrong, but here's what I know and vaguely understand: Project Threshold is the team to co-ordinate the Windows editions for different devices, win9, win8.1, winphones, x-box, etc, because each team works on their own, it needs a team to co-ordinate things for the ecosystem. Project Win9(internal code-name 9) is the team to develop win9, it was started even before win8RTM,(as you might notice from some win9 guy's linkedin CV's), it has a prototype win9 build 9622 compiled about Oct 2012, and win9 builds had been compiled starting from early 2013
if by "shifting the minds" you are talking about me, then I must say, no, this is my understandings all along. if you though otherwise, that's your misunderstoods and imaginations.
No, @NaiveUser, it's not about you, don't be over-sensitive. Edit: this is just some of my impressions on reading thru twitter/FB/blogs/forums, naturally you are free to express your ideas, but please don't ask "are you talking about me?" - I won't respond.
Windows 'codename' 9 did start development around Windows 8 RTM, you're correct. Windows Blue and Windows Threshold were always in the pipeline as updates for Windows 8.x, even with Windows codename 9 in development. Threshold being called Windows 9 has changed the entire plan for Threshold. It was originally supposed to be like Windows 8.1, but since the marketing team told the development team that the next version of Windows needed to be different enough so they could name it something now 8.x related, they had to change their plans. Perhaps Windows 'codename' 9 was originally supposed to be what Threshold is now, or perhaps Windows codename 9 is the cloud-based operating system we know so little about.
Tks Zac, seems you are happy with the new username now. Guess we could know better about the role of Threshold some time later, ATM I don't really wish to discuss too much on it. Btw, AFAIK, win9TP is just M2, so-called "2015 Apr(or about) RTM" is just fantasy - what do you think? Also, I heard some OEM's has 9820, you by some chance has a hands-on?
@Faikee: Let me see if I understand, by what you have seen and read, this is the Threshold of Win8.2 and not the Win9, and that M$ between the lines is delivering Win8.2 by WU-shaped patch updates day. Or would it even misunderstand.
Don't have a hands on of any builds sadly, however I have seen a few builds, latest build I've seen is 9819, however I know that they're close.. if not already passed 983x. And the April RTM thing? Not sure if it will RTM in April, but the idea is that it'll launch in April, so perhaps an RTM will arrive shortly before April. Who knows.
