Win8 is gr8 os its not the point its just not fit enuf for desktop users, its mostly for touch. Microsoft can keep the metro but change it a bit to work comfortingly with mouse and keyboard Im using server 2012r2 and im happy its even faster then win8 metro is reduce to minimum gonna use till arrive of win9 hopefully ms will make good steps to make it perfect
@Stannieman : that's what I've read from the PCBeta guy quite some time before, but since I am not using wp so didn't care too much about it. Anyway, just asked if 1320 could work with wp9 or not, but he's on 930, so I guess it should be OK, but MS guys could "claim" Nokia's so I am not really sure.
I am sick of Softpedia and their site. Also, I think MS will update only quad core WP8.x phones to WP9. It just makes sense because they can't afford dragging old phones and updating them, effectively decreasing new WP sales and features. Even though L920, L1020, even L1320 are capable enough to run WP9.
Ok thanks! I'll make sure to have the dev preview app installed around the time the preview should come out and we'll see how it turns out.
The PCBeta guy needed to know the 1320 specs before he could answer, I don't know about wp's or Lumia's so no idea why it was needed, maybe there were some particular specs would need to be compatible with wp9? Beats me LOL.
Lol... Don't you think they are speculating like every other site? There is no need of getting sick over what Softpedia and their site say. I would usually take what make sense to me when browsing through different sites for information regarding the upcoming Windows 9.
Are you going to run it on virtual machine when the 'technical Preview' debut? I am not going to run any beta apps on a preview OS.
I think the next-to-530(I think it's 630?) already has 1GB ram, no? Maybe it's the chipset? Like in the case of P4, the later ones has NX ......
L530, L630 and L635 have 512MB of RAM. Allegedly L730 and up will have 1GB+ of RAM. All phones in x3x series have quad core CPUs. Thing is - all WP8 phones run on Snapdragon chipsets with Krait cores. I am sure they are powerful enough to run WP9, maybe even full ARM Windows RT. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft made artificial segmentation of market so older models couldn't be updated officially.
That segmentation could have the opposite effect though. If I don't get WP9 I'll probably want to get a new phone sooner than if I do get it. Then I might just as well consider going back to android. If I get WP9 then I'll probably make a more WPfriendly decision for my next phone. Android has a good ecosystem with more apps so it doesn't matter that much, but MS still has some work to do. They need to keep their users using their OS, regardless of the phone being new or old.
I don't see why MS would have higher hardware requirements for WP9. They are clearly targeting both the low end and the high end of the smartphone market, with WP8.1 they even lowered the hardware requirements to enable cheaper Windows Phones. I guess WP9 will have very similar hardware requirements, in theory it could run on any existing device. MS could decide not to upgrade certain devices to WP9, but like Stannieman said, MS should keep their relatively small userbase happy if they ever want to get bigger.
If you count in alleged Win RT and Win Phone merge you can expect some things will be a bit more demanding. I don't know how will 1GHZ dual core CPUs fight with it. Even 1.5 GHZ Snapdragons S4 could have issues running it. However, .NET Native is nerds wet dream so it could help a lot
Wzor known versions of Windows 9 RTM escrows are currently being tested by OEM manufacturers with constant updates. WZOR Writting : ОEMщики выражают готовность предустанавливать на новые ПК предрелизную версию (RTMEscrow) Windows 9 с возможностью постоянного её обновления OEMschiki are willing to be reinstalled on the new PC pre-release versions (RTM Escrow) Windows 9 to constantly update its What do you think ?
I'm pretty sure WZOR'S message got lost in translation, that or he has gone crazy! There are no RTM Escrow builds, period.
WZOR - a story about infamous Windows leaker who has gone bad. In next epizode - WZoR claims Windows 10 is in Beta stage even before Terry Myerson even knew what is happening in MS!
I would expect them to be sending builds to partners to test things, but RTM Escrow? NO WAY IN HELL. Not this early.
