Me too. I don't really understand why people are so much against retaining the charm bar. I still don't know why Microsoft wants to remove it for the flimsy excuse of less activities on the use by many people. Indeed, it is one of those things that I personally find interesting about Windows 8. Do you mean the 'Project' under 'devices' at the charm bar? The second monitor things hasn't worked properly for me when projecting images to a large screen. Most often than none I use Widi incorporated into my ultrabook systems for that purpose. I haven't made use of it that much for sometime now though. I can do without the charm bar as well but the same thing can be said of the Start menu people are grossly demanding to be returned back in Windows 9. What really makes the settings in Windows not a routine feature used by people is because of familiarity with the desktop process of interacting with the system. It seems most people are still used to the old way of passing through the desktop Control Panel to forestall their activities than using the charm bar settings. If the desktop Control Panel process can be disabled the use for the charm bar settings would become something very useful to many people. I still stand on the need to keep the charm bar Windows 9 because of the aesthetic nature and it makes Windows have a different look from previous versions.
And whatz your point? I do believe I know how to multi quote and sorry was not trying to boost my post count, and you? see I can do it! I do not use project what I meant was the charm bar comes up on both screens and when highlighted gives you the time and date. Nice when you want to check after a movie on the big screen. I can not live without the start menu since it is quicker and more compact for desktop use therefore I use menu classic. If I want to run photoshop I do not go the huge 2"x2" desktop icons to run it, if I want regedit I click the start search not the charm bar. But there is a third party software that gives this to me so if M$ does it for others or not does not really matter. You must admit that for work flow if you right-click on an open area of the taskbar, and choose Toolbars \ New Toolbar from the menu. You should probably also unlock the taskbar at this point. Post this: %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch, into the location bar. Make sure that the location bar shows the full path, then choose the “Select Folder” button. Hide name ..... Turn on display small icons on the taskbar to save more real estate and drag your tasks to the right side beside your clock. Is a lot more compact than METRO ICONS Regards
IF they want to remove something useless remove that metro menu. I've used the charm bar a heck of a lot more than those tiles. I can garantee you there are tiles I haven't used since Windows 8 Rtm'ed. Weather and Store are fine. the rest are useless.
Yeah... ZacB posts on winbeta are 100% bulls**t. Neowin posts looks clearly like posts from someone who received a few news from random guys but in reality its only rumors based.
And your sources for such wild accusations? Especially since by dissing both Zac Bowden from WinBeta and Brad Sams from Neowin, you're criticizing the many other journalists who have been told similar stories to Zac and Brad (Tom Warren, Paul Thurrott, Mary Jo Foley). And you know what they say, 5 against 1 ain't good odds. What else are we supposed to do as we wait eagerly for Windows vNext?
I am not here to defend anybody, but as for Mary Jo Foley there is no argument whatsoever to accuse her of any misleading guesses. She has always expressed her views based on information available to her disposal. We can all agree her mark has been well thought out for others to see what she writes on in the clarity of the subject-matter. In that regard, I exonerate her from any biased accusation or bringing her into any article with suspicious intent. The truth is that most things pertaining to the release of Windows, as in the case of Windows 9 build and other related information being securely kept away from leaks, there is a reason to accept any speculation available online and discuss on it. That is what everybody is doing on the internet. Pointing accusing fingers is not going to help anybody here. I think Windows 9 is going to have much of what we have speculated on as we inch closer to the release date on September 30, 2014.
I'm predicting that W9 will be like that hot girl you always wanted to have sex with, you finally did, and were sorely disappointed.
Fixed that for you. Meanwhile, I was looking back at the dates for the Surface Pro 3 event invite and the dates for the Surface 2 (Pro) event invites, interestingly they seem to appear two weeks before the event. So seeing as the event is for the 30th perhaps we will hear something around September 16. But perhaps as builds are already in OEM hands, we'll see a leak before the invites?
