But you will have option to disable it and then you can forget the start screen.

You are just looking at the UI the last thing to be worked. I bet these Kernel enhancements are 100x cleaner and more advanced over 8.1 by far.

    Windows Longhorn 3663
    Windows 8 7989
    Windows 9 9834

I wonder what these builds have in common

Don't forget the first official preview of Windows 8 was called "Windows Developer Preview" :zwinker: & it is meant for both the desktop & tablets, how else would the developers test their apps for the next version of Windows? Windows Developer Preview was also used on tablets.

They all initially looked like their previous versions, Longhorn looked like a slightly updated xp,Win 8 looked like 7 with explorer ribbon & taskbar tile & now Windows 9 looks like Windows 8.1 with some added updates :p

just looks like windows frankenstein got some new knobs :D
now I wouldn't expect too much from trashhold
they should have started from scratch at win7, not 8 imho.

I guess the left side of Start Menu (programs) is the replacement of Apps screen, and the right side (tiles) is the replacement for Start Screen.
so, they are both in the Start Menu.

There were a lot of under-the-hood changes in win8. It wasn't all cosmetic.
They did quite a lot of things that make for a much faster system if you are using newer hardware.
I wouldn't 'trash'-talk this new OS before it has a chance to show people what it has.

Honestly though, this is just win8.1 with a start menu mod. They are going to make a lot of changes before release.

the question for me is: will my adobe cs5 suite and all other apps still run on win9? some software was expensive, you know.
also I have serious doubts about the security, as we learned in china win8 is already forbidden for government use,
and reagarding all the us-nsa spy stuff I suggest making windows more cloudy is a full frontal heading into the wrong direction.
companies won't use it if it takes that way. still no need for tiles on a desktop, but that's my personal oppinion.

^^ CS5 is a relatively new app and a 64 bit app is a 64 bit app therefore I would say it will run fine. As far as anonymity that is a personal task. I am not a terrorist and therefore the nas should not be knocking at the door any time soon. As far as M$, google etc. having all my personal info including credit card data that will never happen as that is the gold cow just waiting to be hacked for bragging rights. The cloud should not be called a cloud but store all your data on our hard drive because that is all it is. I would say your personal data online should be much more secure than behind your own firewall :D.

    Regards

ever heard of human rights for privacy?
that's the worst argument for overruling privacy, sorry
I'm not a terrorist too and even 99.9999999999% of the human beeings worldwide for sure ain't , not even potentially.
still it's a question of respecting each other and keeping up democracy, but let's keep on track.

Of course it will run your older software!
And about your security concerns, China isn't a good reference, MS is very serious about protecting customer privacy, they are actively fighting orders to release customer data. Besides, when was the last time Jennifer Lawrence's OneDrive pics leaked?:D

microsoft is also scraping content as google does, so any uploading or permanent connection should be established
by agreeing terms! not autoconnecting, scraping, and serving related content in adventisements, that's a bad trend,
as the data is used for a very personal profiling. I know most of the people don't think about it. but it's defintely a topic
that changes the society of our future.
