Probably, after Update 2, Win 8.1 will get just regular updates on Patch Tuesdays via WU. And, of course, new major release will come. Maybe Win 9. Maybe something else.

Does MS ever mention performance improvements? That is all I care about - further improved resource management and raw performance! Windows 8.1 Update 1 did improve performance somewhat, but I hope the trend continues! Why is it such a big deal for MS to add a regular Start button? Why is it a big deal in general when you have apps like Classic Shell? I feel like MS is keeping the Start button off their current updates list for some specific reason, but what in the hell would that be?
