We can probably expect a major rollup like update 1 did. I was actually very annoyed to see like 200 megs of updates the first month after the update 1 isos were released. I could just be getting hung up on the size since I've been dealing with Win7 patches for so long. It could be that they simply started grouping updates differently in win8 and that's why they're so big. If you're asking about start menu, no I believe that's not expected for this coming update.
Win 8 seems to be a transition version from where they were to where they think they want to go. I expect the next version to be accepted by the masses a lot more than 8 has been. I have no issues with 8/8.1/8.1.1, but others seem to.
fwiw, I agree. To be honest I wonder what all the fuzz is about. As for the start-menu - don't miss it one bit. As for the metro interface - doesn't bother me. To be fair, I hardly use it. Guess, I'm just one of the lucky ones... Never had much troubles with any of the Windows OS's.
I specially liked that "true" or "heard" saying, win9(or what some guys say is Threshold) being a new Windows version and supposed to have a new kernel, would only start development after 2014 Apr, and supposed(quoting MJF) to release a beta by Fall, and supposed to be launched(quoting MJF/Thurrott) in 2015 Apr., amazing! I once heard the rumor that MS moved the whole win9 branch to Area 51 for total security, guess they might have used the super-ultra computer in one of those captured flying saucers. .........
Covering my own ass To be fair what I was more talking about the Windows 8.1 stuff than the Windows 9 stuff, but if we must talk about Windows 9. I heard from my own personal source that Win9/Threshold began development around April. Any more questions?
I'm more for thinking that April 2015 will see a Beta and Fall 2015 will be RTM. Personal guess that one, didn't hear that from anybody. What I did hear though is that development began in April.
Yep, when infos about 92xx/93xx(couldn't remember) was out, people brag all over the web that it's win9, and there's no 9622, naturally, they didn't know about winblue at that time (familiar scenario, right?). I didn't poke into that, win9 was so far away then, and after win8RTM, canouna/WZor/VivaHo, etc, all these non-MS guys lost Corpnet login and MS put up very strict rules for logging-in, flying rumors inside MS everyday about Redmond top-levels, the general attitude was "don't raise any kind of attention to your own selves".
Yeah, Canouna and that losing access to CorpNet is a real bummer. I wonder if someone outside of MS will get access again?
My guess is some one will, then be shut off, then someone else will, then shut off, etc. The "old better mouse, better mouse trap" theory. Let up pray...come on mouse!
