they certainly will keep KMS alive since this is the method for big companies to activate their machines but I'm sure they will roll out a new encryption/protocol like they did 8 > 8.1
It's not very far-fetched to assume they'd include some sort of white-listing via temporary cert downloads on the key management server. They could also introduce a lot more obstacles in the activation verification process, but that would just slow things down. In my mind I can imagine a 3rd pronged approach where the user and server are both activating, but that any time the user is online, it will attempt to verify the validity of the activation. I imagine it like a more aggressive WAT, but if they introduced some sort of cert process on the server, it could be a lot more effective. That's all well and good, but since we can also hook the activation process and just go from there, they'd also need to make some changes. I could speculate all day. They really have their work cut out for them.
Something is missing in Win+X Menu : Windows Update. I hope M$ will add it in next Update of windows 8.1 or in next OS.
