Threshold is just the code-name for Windows 9. Possibly, the kernel or version code-name. Just like you have it for Windows 8 or 8.1 in the past. Don't expect to see Windows Threshold as a trade-mark in the next releases.
ok, some more) observations / comments about those "Windows 9" stuff on linkedin. 1, these CVs only appeared very recently, as you may know, I ve kept an eye on these stuff for a while, and monitoring linkedin regularly, I only found these very recently. btw, the date of the CV section is not the date this section being edited lastly. 2, as you can see, there are 'version sequences' mentioned, 7->8->8.1->9, so most likely, 9 is something follows 8.1 immediately, no more intermediate big version between 8.1 and 9, but as we all agree now (right?), the thing follows 8.1 immediately is Threshold, so most likely, those '9's mentioned are actually Threshold. then, there are some possibilities to explain that, a) they don't know what Threshold will be called, so they used 9 as placeholder, or b) they actuallly believe/know that Threshold will be called Windows 9. there are other possibilities of course.
I would have to add something to your statements from an optimist point of views. In the fact that Microsoft has a nomenclature for its recent Windows versions there is every reason to say the next release is going to be named Windows 9 . We have seen this repeatedly from the release of Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. Mind you, even in some of their public addresses there has been little hints on Windows 9 specifically. There is no doubt naming Windows threshold is going to look odd but also differentiate it from the usual branding of what other OS developers are doing, like Apple Mac coming up with different names of animal(mostly in the cat family) for their Operating Systems or Ubuntu following on the same footstep. I think Windows 9 is going to be the name of the next Windows version as we have seen that done in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 with the code-name BLUE.
Can't wait for Windows 8.1 TE [Third Edition] aka Update 2. Gonna be awesome 15 days! Its the final countdowwwwwwwn do-do-do-do do-do-do-do-do
Yes, it makes perfect sense to use the Windows 9 name on your CV even if it isn't final. You want others who read your CV, people who aren't watching Windows development as closely as we do, to know that you're working on the next version of Windows, "Windows 9" makes more sense than "Threshold" then.
FaiKee, Source for anything you're saying? Don't say "special friend". I can point out stuff you said came from a "special friend" that was wrong. How about dropping the attitude you have? You act like you know everything that's going on with any future release when in reality you're clueless. You keep going by stuff you read on public blogs and forums. Even spreading BS that comes from the "clown". I could easily create a persona and post some BS and get you to post it somewhere. You post about everything you read without checking authenticity and have the nerve to call out others for doing the same thing. You're starting to act very immature about it now. Drop the "I know more than you" attitude because you're not fooling anyone.
We are going to protest that brand at the end. We are going to tell the Windows developers we have a choice and Threshold should be named Windows 9!
Me too. I am very anxious to see it paves the way for Windows 9. Curiosity is my thing when it comes to Windows.
The leaks are all based on speculations. There is no source that could come up to defend their claim because the people are afraid to be taken in by Microsoft. That is the most funny thing in all of these. The fresh meat is that you need to wait till 2015 for the final release .
Also, some minor thing about Update2: MJF had previously claimed that Update2 will be silently released thru WinUpdate on Aug 12, again, just "long and trusted source", no proof like what @shawnsdada demanded. Then came Painter's screen-shot, but I have pointed out that this is a MS paper for gold partners, and it only mentioned about a stand-alone installation available for download on Aug 12 - as we know from Update 1, all OEM's didn't download a full ISO, instead, they downloaded the KB's(i.e. stand-alone's) and had to slip-stream by themselves for production. Naturally, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a full public release on Aug. 12, the chance is always there ........ but just don't get surprised(or disappointed) if you don't find it in WU on that date.
Well I haven't posted in a while but does anyone know with good certainty what this update will be called? 8.2 9? @FaiKee nice to see your still around.
My guess is that anyone here who really knows what it will be called isn't going to say and the ones that say they know for a fact what it will be called really have no idea. If they did they would have proven it already to shut people up. They'll just post all the possibilities of what it could be through random posts of theirs and if they got it right in one of those random posts, they'll come back to say they knew all along. That's how certain people here work. Post every possible outcome so they can say later on that they were right.
