Threshold is the purported codename for Windows 9 just like the Blue for Windows 8. That has been the information circulated around the globe. That seems to be the most persuasive and refreshing rumor in the branding of the upcoming Windows version.
No surprise there. GDR's are becoming very common for Microsoft these days. Already running the first one on my WP 8.1.
Taking SS's of a Windows Build/Version must be incredibly hard, I feel bad for this guy. Take it easy man! take another week or so, please...
Does anybody buy this latest rumor about "virtual desktops" in "Windows 9"? My sources cannot confirm it so far.. I guess they are only fishing for clicks..
Well, we have semiofficial solution but yeah, it would be nice to see that in Win9... But it's unlikely. Code: technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc817881.aspx Why? Because more and more people are having multiple monitors and virtual desktops were great in time where single monitor was norm. I mean, it still is but more and more people are using multimonitor setups or big size, high resolution screens so it's easier to multitask and have multiple windows open at the same time. However, this post is written od 1366x768 laptop screen so future is still long ahead for me. Also, maddog wanted to screenshot his dekstop but camera died
yeah great! I was expecting it to change Windows 8.1 majorly, nope, nothing to see here, let's move on to Windows 9
After all, this topic had good times and bad, high-level discussions, it is true that some less so, but it was a great topic.
I don't understand why people seem to be disappointed with Update 2, or as M$ called it, just a regular monthly update, which will bring just a few new features. I understand, that everybody was expecting something similar to Update 1, but on the other hand, those few features are also an improvement. And if you look closely to the statement of Microsoft, the bottom line of it is not the name of this update, but actually this part: "We’ll continue to use our normal channels such as Windows Update (WU), Microsoft Update (MU), and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to deliver updates to Windows. These updates will include security updates to help keep you protected, as well as non-security updates that can bring a range of improvements to your PC or tablet running Windows. <...> Some of these improvements might be more visible or even new features, while others might be more “behind-the-scenes” that improve things like the performance and reliability of your device." So, from now on we can expect notable improvements and even new features on every Patch Tuesday. I think it's even better than waiting quarter of year for noticeable update.
You're right, we knew "Update 2" wasn't going to bring a lot of new stuff anyway, so why the disappointment? Fun fact : Neowin claimed that Update 2 would officially be called "August Update", now we know where that rumor came from!
Elmo comes in Update 3? Cookie monster too, but the second part is just a rumor. sorry, I cant help make these posts.
Here is my observation: Windows Millennium was the beta for windows XP. Windows Vista was the beta for Windows 7. Windows 8 is the beta for Windows 9.
