Hi. I was using Windows 8. My internet is "Radio" using a Bullet which is connected to my PC. So, I create a new Broadband connection (PPPOE) unde Windows. After creating it, I put the "service" and manually connected to the internet. But after restarting, and loggong into my account it shows me a windows where I had to put login and password, and I also marked "automatic connection when login, and worked fine. After installing Windows 8.1 Preview it seems that it was removed. Because after creating a new connection and restarting my computer, there isn´t any window anymore to create my automatic connection. I can connect only manually clicking on the Icon on tray. I thought that this option of windows 8 would be back on final release, but it wasn´t. How can I can configure my computer to connect automatically after login to my account, because I don´t like to connect all the times manually.
Why this new edition of Windows is taking so long to activate, if I recall about the time Windows 8 come out, there were lots of tools to fool the activation, of course it was a temporary fix, until a KMS emulator server come along, and made genuine activations
so they removed the right click, where you selected metered etc. Just installed 8.1 and could not easily unmeter one network. Also it seems to forget one network\password all the time.
If you are referring to hacktivators... they didn't actually activate. They simply stopped the nagging and watermarks. KMS activators were the one and only activators for Win8.0
But murphy78, I reckon lots of people haven't had the change to try Windows 8.1 at the full strength, and those hacktivators made that possible, until a valid solution comes out.
Yep! they removed Right-click on network list (SSID's) feature but you can On/Off Metered Network in PC settings > Networks > Connections Tab > (Your Network name) > Data Usage > Set as metered connection. also they removed Forget Network option completely from GUI, so only way is from command prompt. in Admin CMD type to remove/Forget network: Code: netsh wlan delete profile name="YourNetworkName" Replacee your network name with YourNetworkName (without quotes).
Now I know why last night I dreamed of a screen-shot of "Windows 8.1 renewed RTM Build 9650.16384 on Oct. 18".
What's the next step on a solution? Are people waiting for the official drop of the VL version by MS in the coming days, which may be accompanied (separately) on MSDN by official activation tools/documentation that is then used to reverse-engineer the new method?
Actually not much changed in the activation. They put in a new API for the licensing. In order to really understand what changed you really just need to look at what features were added under the hood. All of Microsoft's licensing ties in with the tokens.dat / cache.dat in order to fully license Windows. I don't have much time to dig into windows now a days but my best guess is that they simply changed the keys to the kingdom as it were for KMS. The architecture itself for 8.1 hasn't really changed at all the tokens 2 upgrade probably did some changes for future proofing the OS to make it easier to add stuff later. Meaning there will be more features added when Windows 8.1 goes GA and the surface 2 comes out.
And probably a ton of background errors that fubar your experience... There's a reason we don't use things like that.
