Anyone having issue with their external USB/USB3 HDD keeps on spinning up and down when not in use? Try turning on High Performance, setting HDD to never turn off and even disable USB Settings and still nothing working.

I had to install AMD (in my case amd drivers) for SATA controllers to stop the usb3 from dropping and reconnecting. Maybe that will help you as well. MS sata drivers caused my issues.

In my case, sometimes external hard disks (attached to USB 3 ports) are not assigned a drive name and so cannot be seen on each connect. Have to go to disk management each time and assign a drive letter. Very frustrating. Similar is the case sometimes with ESATA.
Simply am stupid but cannot work like this-go to disk management on connection of external disks (USB 3 or esata).
Any solutions. ASmedia SATA controller driver (1.4.1.0, Jul 2013) installs, gives an error, but works. That is till I get these issues.

How do you change the length of time the notifications stay on the top right of the desktop from Metro apps?

Like when a new news story arrives on a Metro app, it pops up a notification at the top right of the desktop - I remember changing the timeout on windows 8, but can't find it on 8.1 - they stay there for far too long

EDIT -Found it in Ease of Access, set to 5 seconds, but notifications are staying on screen for 10-20 seconds easy

Does anybody know why microsoft changed their policy on technet on Enterprise Edition regarding Mak key's ?

On Enterprise edition 8.0 there was only one key for the technet customers and now on Enterprise 8.1 whe have three keys !!

Not complaining here just wondering :tea:
