News/Discussions: Windows 8.1 RTM Build 6.3.9600.16384

Would e nice if it would leak in the next 6 - 7 hours (1:40am here). I'm not going to sleep until morning (not like I could, I drank too many energy drinks like 2 or 3 hours ago) I feel like on Christmas morning right now, I haven't felt like this since last July when Windows 8 went RTM.

 

We'll all be a sleepless night hoping the link

 

Don't want to bring everyone down, when there is so much anticipation, but has anyone figured out how we are going to activate 8.1 when doing a clean install

 

Everything done for me all the latest and greatest software sorted out just waiting now to download it and install it

 

using a Windows 8 key. Microsoft said that it's a free update, it means that we can install it and activate it using a retail Windows 8 key.

 

This is good news! So the OEM and Retail keys are compatible ??

 

That is great if you have a retail key. A lot of us here activated via KMS version 5 and my understanding is 8.1 uses KMS version 6 and Microsoft Toolkit will not work as far as we know.

 

Don't forget that, it's for OEM...

 

I'm not sure about that but we can try it after we have the iso. The activation is not too important at the moment, when we got the windows installed we can worry about activating it

Yup, I know. I'll trade my key for a OEM one hahaha (joking)

If you don't have a legit key, no problem at least you'll find a way to activate it before I do I can install Windows 8, then try to upgrade it to 8.1 using the iso. I'm not sure if that would work but I'll give it a try

Look, these 5 digits 16384 mean the the Project has reach the final test (Final Step) before the Project transfer to Product (Release), in this step they test and fix problems, then test and fix, then test if no problems found they give the Green Light to MS to Release the Project as Product, in this case MS close the Project with new Digit 16385 and send it to the Product line then Windows Product hit stores.

 

I'd prefer a clean install Anyway let's get the torrent first

 

So what will be the build number, 16384 or 16385 for the incoming torrent?

Already brought it up to Yen, he brought up some very great points why thats not a good idea.
