I click to restore the pkeyconfig and tokens.dat and when I pick the directory for it, it tells me they're not found. What is wrong here I backed them up, now I can't restore them... THANKS
I backed up the keys from my recovery cd version of Win7 which is to bloated from Acer. I have a copy of Win7 that I want to use instead, that is what I'm trying to restore the keys back into that version.
What is the information you have form going to control panel/system does it say something. Did you clean install from RTM and then attempted token restore on same hardware with No clue's software? I know my self I lost text files when saving key with token restore.
the token restore app is very specific. meaning if you mess around with your backup it will 1. tell you the files are not there or 2. tell you that you have the wrong files. now my questions did you mess around with your files? did you backup a retail key or a MAK key? one more thing the program need tokens.dat and pkeyconfig.xrm-ms files maybe you should check to see if they are in the folder you picked?
Control panel/sytem, say what? I have an iso from DigitalRiver an actual M$ iso I installed on my laptop with no hardware changes. It's paymyrent's token restore app. I backed the pkeyconfig and tokens.dat on my portable hard drive, I didn't loose anything.
What do you mean mess around with the backup? I didn't do anything to the backup files if that is what you mean, I just put them on a portable hard drive is all.
I used the retail not mak, I have Win 7 Home Premium on eMachines recovery cds for my eMachines laptop which is to bloated. As I mentioned before have an iso from DigitalRiver an actual M$ iso I installed on my laptop with no hardware changes. When I click to restore it says that pkeyconfig and tokens.dat not found.
I'm a Linux/Unix geek of 10 years and an IT Tech, there isn't anything to this, LOL... I'm far from clueless, SORRY don't mean that to seem rude, just trying to let you know I'm not a noob. Yes I see that in your post it says for a retail key, but I'm using OEM, so I was hoping it's still going to work, after all peeps are going to want to use with off their OEM boxes that have all the bloat software and then use a real windows image just to get a clean install with. I assumed the app works for people trying to accomplish this, after all one of the best reasons to use this... THANKS
The app only made a backup of the pkeyconfig and tokens.dat, was it suppose to make a backup of keys.txt as well, because it didn't. THANKS
ok so your telling me 1309 people will also tell me the application doesnt work? i took 2 off because one problem was caused by user error. and now yours.
