hi, just wondering if its normal for the help and support section for the rtm to mention, in a lot of places, about a preview of windows 8.1, and a lot of places there is just a placeholder, no actual help context? I thought help was built into the os and not downloaded from the net

    thanks guys

    If I understand you correctly....

The Metro Help Im not sure. But it seems to be built into the OS, while offering you to go to Windows.com for more help (with some webpages not yet available).

For the Desktop Windows Help, its normal. And you do have the option for Online or Offline. If you have it set to "Online Help" from the bottom, it grabs the content off Microsoft's server. It ill show it as "[This information is preliminary and subject to change.]" since the 8.1 Public Preview is still the latest for everyone (even tho its already RTM). That and the Preview names should be pulled off around the time the RTM goes GA in October.

If you set it to "Offline Help" you won't see the "[This information is preliminary and subject to change.]" and "Preview" mentioned, as the information is current because the OS is RTMed.
