Even on a genuine system prior upgraded to 10, a new upgrade or clean install is a hit and miss activation process.
It may stay activated, and then a reboot later, become unactivated.
I have seen this happen on two consecutive Sundays. On Monday, this genuine ticket business gets working.
    Total mess and hassles.

    Info please

I've read through most of the posts in this thread and I've ended up a bit confused, so,

Are the original instructions correct i.e. :- Copy gatherosstate to validated windows 7 and run it (is it ok to just run from the desktop?)

Then copy GenuineTicket.xml to the path given in W10 (will GenuineTicket.xml be output to desktop or downloads in W7?)

Getting a bit old for all this excitement!!

    Dave

Oh Forgot to mention, putting the W10 on a different size, type of HDD does not count as changing hardware re validation?

Just follow the instructions on the first post by Yen. Follow exactly what she said to do. Don't try to over think this. BUT remember that you have to have validated on line first your operating system (Win7 or Win 8). If you did not do this before had the upgrade will fail!!

So far it seems that everything is tied to the motherboard.

I've read the post by Yen but before embarking on the upgrade I would like an answer to the questions I asked as I didn't want to make any mistakes half way through. I haven't actually said what I'm hoping to do but in a nutshell I want to be able to boot into either windows 7 or windows 10. I have a switch on the front of my computer which will let me switch on or off any of my installed HDD's. So what I want to do with the upgrade is to keep W7 on my original HDD1 and then install W10 on HDD2 but following Yen's post, ie transferring gatherosstate from HDD2 to HDD1 getting GenuineTicket.xml then transferring it to HHD2 and following Yenj's instructions. Hope I've described OK what I would like to do and I can't see why it wont work. But Yen's instructions do not say where to run gatherosstate from other than W7 so I wanted to make sure it was OK just to run from the desktop of the W7 HDD. Then I wanted to know where in windows 7 the GenuineTicket.XML will be found.

Hope this is a bit clearer and can you see any reason why what I want to to (ie Dual Boot)_wont work

    Regards

    Dave

What you plan on doing will work just fine being that Both HD's will be on the same computer. As for generating the file, create a new folder on the desktop > put gatherosstate in that folder > run it in the new folder > It will generate the ticket and save it right in that (same) folder.

    genuineticket + cmd: slmgr.vbs -rearm & reboot = win10 activates regardless

Haven't read all the posts to see if this has been covered but FWIW I have just taken the HDD from a PC running win10 (activated & legitimately upgraded from 7pro) & transferred it in to another PC that has not been upgraded to win10... windows did not activate (no surprises there) however I then plugged the original HDD back in, created genuineticket.xml & transferred this to C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket\ of the w10 installation... rebooted, plugged lan in & voila... win10 activated, watermark gone, updates working etc.
To me this suggests a windows 10 install can be bounced from PC to PC & legitimately activated with the genuineticket.xml for that machine.

    Of note...
    * Both PC's are HP dc7900's originally running OEM SLIC 2.1 activated Win 7 Pro.
    * PC originally upgraded to win 10 had been online & activated
    * PC that received the win 10 HDD had been online & had it's activation status checked & was showing as not activated with water mark etc prior to placing
    GenuineTicket.xml in C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket\ & restarting.
    * HDD can be transferred between these PC's freely & windows 10 remains activated on both

    Update:

Further to this, I have taken this same HDD & placed it into a HP dc7800 (SLIC 2.0) to establish it would not activate... it didn't (again no surprises)
Next I tried the HDD in an HP Compaq 6200 Pro (OEM Win7Pro SLIC 2.1 Activated) having already created the genuineticket.xml I copied it over, rebooted & connected lan... and it didn't activate
 not to be dissuaded I went back to the win7 HDD, validated activation online & repeated the process... & it still didn't activate.
BUT... after a few reboots over a few days all of a sudden it showed as ACTIVATED
I suspect windows just has to decide to go through it's full regime of checking & testing it's legitimacy, so... to prove this to some degree I put win 7 on the previously mentioned dc7800, ran Daz's Loader, generated genuineticket.xml, put the win10 HDD on it, booted & copied genuineticket.xml over, rebooted & connected Lan - it didn't activate (like the 6200)... so I opened an elevated command prompt, typed: slmgr.vbs -rearm, rebooted & just like that windows was activated... again.
So in short it would appear you can copy the correct genuineticket.xml to
C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket\, open an elevated command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -rearm and reboot & win10 will activate regardless of it's sordid history.
Sorry that was so long winded... hopefully it proves useful to others... would be interested in any input anyone else may have on this

Just done some experiments and I can say that the OP is over cautious.

There's no need to do a clean install, no need to reboot, no need to use the 240 (just avoid the leaked versions)

    In short

#1 follow the OP instructions to get the genuine ticket

#2 disable your Internet connection and stop clipservice from services.msc/command line/task manager

    #3
open an admin CMD and reinstall the generic product key using slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx.... to refresh the token.dat

    #4
copy the genuine ticket in the right location, see OP

    #5
    reenable Internet and start clipservice

    That's all

I tried successfully using some already installed (and configured) W10 b10565 installations with tickets generated from W7 Ultimate.

    Edit:

#6 Online validation isn't needed as well

And now we can try clean installation of 10565 (or newer) with Windows 7/8/8.1 OEM/Retail keys for the following free Windows 10 editions before 29/07/2016.

    Core Country Specific
    Core Single Language
    Core
    Core N
    Pro
    Pro N

    Q1: CoreConnected?
Q2: GenuineTicket.xml applicability? e.g. Will the GenuineTicket.xml of 10565 be capable of activating 10240, and Vice Versa?
Q3: Is 10565 GenuineTicket.xml necessary for Digital Entitlement?

    [Test Environment]

Dual-boot (on a device that has no activated Windows 10 Core/Pro): one 10240 partition, one 10565 partition.

Step 1. Boot to 10565 and activate with Windows 7/8/8.1 key (and get GenuineTicket.xml)
Step 2. Restart to 10240 and see if activated

Result 1: 10240 activated > No need of 10565 GenuineTicket.xml for sake of Didital Entitlement.
    Result 2: 10240 inactivated > Try 10565 GenuineTicket.xml.

Finally singed in after lurking for some time. Thanks for everyone's great work on this. I am still having issues in a dual-boot environment, but I need to do more troubleshooting before posting Q's.

I'm having problems when (I believe) I have followed Yen's Page 1 details correctly.
    Here are more details....

    1. I have an activated Win7 Ultimate 64-bit installed.
    2. Have got W10 Pro 64-bit 10240 ISO.
    3. Generated ticket successfully as detailed by Yen Page 1.
    4. Did fresh install of my W10 Pro ISO to an 'unallocated space' on hard disk
    5. Disabled Wifi connection and Rebooted (as Yen states)
    6. Tried to copy ticket to C:\programdata\bla bla bla path but there is NO c:\programdata (only Program Files; Program Files (x86); Windows...and so on)

Why do I not have c:\programdata?
I can't work out why? Maybe I'm too old for this techie stuff:confused::(
    Can someone help please?

Because you lack a basic information that goes back to the MSDOS days. There are hidden files and folders.

To see them you have to check the magic option on folder's preference)

Does that mean , Clean Install Build 10566 on computers that have never been activated Windows 10 can be activated using the Key of Windows 7,8,8.1?

Just wanted to make sure , until I get a new computer to test it ..

No need to input any key if the computer was already activated on win 10 (even after a full format).

The novelty of 10566 is that you can activate W10 when installing it cleanly and FOR THE FIRST TIME on that machine.

In such case a legit Win 7/8[1] key is needed

Thanks a lot guys for pointing this out.

I've created a tiny Autoit script to help you create and import the genuineticket.xml file.

    Trouble activating W10 using gatherosstate.exe

So I followed the guide from the thread title "Windows 10 Covering all ACTIVATION Processes and Checking/ B/U ADDED" in section 1aa of the OP.

    1. I downloaded W10 Pro directly from MS.

    2. Burned ISO to bootable USB.

    3. Copied gatherosstate.exe to my W7 activated machine and ran the program.

    4. Copied the outputted geinuineticket.xml to a flash drive.

    5. Clean installed W10 Pro.

    6. Once clean install was complete I copied the genuineticket.xml to the filepath C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket

    7. Rebooted laptop, but under Windows activation it still stated Connect to the internet to activate windows.

    What am I doing wrong??

I think you need to do it with windows 10 unplugged, it works for me in every computer i tried. Also remember to install a matching version, you cant install windows 10 pro to upgrade a windows 7 home premium computer.
