[Not working anymore] How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process

A quick question...
I currently have a laptop on the insider program running Win 10 Pro. I am getting a custom built laptop with no operating system on it. How can I get Win 10 pro on the new custom laptop back on the insider program again? I understand I will need a 'genuine' key from Windows 7 right? I have a COA on my old laptop that's already been activated so I know I cant use that one.

Install Win7 from genuine disk, (many floating around here on MDL) Then follow the instructions in the first post by Yen. No need to update Win7!!

 

First of all, unless you did reinstall Win7 and inserted manually the key, no one has ever used the key on your sticker, preinstalled W7 ny first tier vendors are activated trough the bios with matching signature and cert, not with the sticker key.

Second, since the build 1511 you can install W10 directly using your W7 key, no matter your situation on first point.

Third, if the above fails for whatever reason, or if if you want W10 Pro but your W7 license is Home, follow first post instructions.

I'm trying to upgrade my Daz activated W7 SP1 Ultimate to W10 Pro.
I've read that it's mandatory to validate first the OS, so I've tried using IE as described in this thread.
For that first I had to download and install "WindowsActivationUpdate.exe", which resulted in my windows no longer activated and the annoying warning showing up.
For that I run a tool to remove WAT and later activated again by using DAZ's loader.
The second time I've tried to validate online, I've also run another file downloaded from microsoft called "legitcheck.hta", but no matter how many times I've tried because I always receive a message saying that Windows could not be validated as original.

The thing is I received the notification to upgrade W7 to W10 but basically would prefer to do a clean install in another hard drive and keep using W7 until I get to learn more about W10 and decide if I use it or get rid of it. It seemed to me a good idea to get a free license for my hardware though

Does anyone know why I can't validate or if I should continue with the process despite not being able to validate? Could anyone tell me something please?

Try to save the file i marked red in the quote and then run it as admin (rightmousebutton click on the save file and select "run as admin").

You could do the full upgrade process on a different hdd/ssd from a daz activated pro/ulti to 10 pro to get a HWID, the validation part should not be needed to perform this.

 

Looks like it was caused by Remove WAT. Try Reinstall Windows 7 and run Daz Loader.
Do not use other activators.

 

No way man, the result is the same after saving the file and runnning it as admin.
I know I could do the full upgrade process on a different hdd/ssd from a daz activated W7 but I'd like to be smarter and follow the procedure in the first post.

Any idea why my W7 can't be validated online or a suggestion to go on now?

Thank you CaptainKirk1966. It's just that I got a bit shocked when the non-genuine watermark appeared after installing the WindowsActivationUpdate file. I always use Daz activator when I install a W7 OS but this time I resorted to removeWAT without thinking too much, just to get rid of it as soon as possible.
I'll try to find some time to read in the forum about how to fix the mess, how activators work and later to finally upgrade to W10 without going through the whole process. Hopefully during the weekend if there's enough time.

It's possible to upgrade from W7Pro OEM, activated with MAK key.
Just tested it in VM, works 100%.

I have 2 identical notebooks. Is it possible to use the GenuineTicket.xml for both of them?

 

Yes. I generated a GenuineTicket.xml in a bios mod activated Win 7 Pro VM and used the same GenuineTicket to activate 2 Win 10 Pro virtual machines.

I think that for 100 virtual machines
builted in the same computer
on same OS
with same virtualization software [like VMware]
the HWID will be the same
[I am not sure but is so logical]

for 100 identically laptops as hardware I don't have doubts, I am sure the HWIDs will be different.

I have doubts you can use the ticket gained on a virtual machine
or entitlement gained for a virtual machine
on the hardware machine.
