Haha, NOPE, not a chance! I could possibly imagine sometime before year end, if not maybe even right away a good discount, at least on upgrade versions. Not free. No way.

It has been clearly stated by Microsoft that after July 29th there will be no provision for free Windows 10 available to the public. For those who couldn't upgrade before that time elapsed or intentionally remained stubborn to heed the warning will have to pay to have it on their systems after then.

The software giant has even gone to the length of making sure people install it before the deadline or timestamp for free upgrade by embarking on vicious notifications and sometime tries to download it at the background hoping the users will install it at their own convenient times.

My simple advice to those who haven't yet upgraded their systems to Windows 10 should start doing so before July 29, 2016. This is an opportunity not to avoid because that money to be spent on purchasing it in the future can serve other purpose.

Many of the people that were ranting and raving about MS and their heavy handed efforts to get people to upgrade, will be ranting and raving that it is not fair that the offer has gone away.

    AFAIK:

The free upgrade offer was meant for ALL windows 7 SP1/8.x Home/Pro users (legit and pirated) to go genuine, for those who did upgrade and established a HWID before the end of the offer and those who have oem:Dm bioskeys for 8.x/10 will allways be able to (re)install win 10 and be legit.

I've never seen that said officially about the 8.x. I may be wrong and it would be nice if that's correct. Microsoft seems to want people to upgrade now, not in a few years. If true though I'd like to see that.

Well yeah, I think they will extent the deadline. Microsoft is always looking for ways to be magnanimous and this is just one way of showing their charity. But why wait? If you're wanting to do it then do it, if you can't decide which you want then do it, get the entitlement and restore a Windows 7 image. If you just can't bring yourself to upgrade to Windows 10 then don't ... you're all set and satisfied.

Anything free comes with many annoying cons so it should not.
I think MS should make available windows 10 for just $9.99.
This will stop the piracy upto 95% and revenue will be generated more than that of amount which is/was generated with the present/past pricing policy.

I could possibly see advertising with a free download/install for Windows 10, But why would you pay for an OS that had adware/spyware pre-installed? Will a purchased version not be loaded with the crap the free version has?
I think those that wanted 10 already have it and those that did not want it are not going to buy it. I think M$ will see very poor sales of 10 after 7/29. The adware may increase after that date to off set the loss of sales

I think they'll keep it free until some version of Win10 is stable well spread and popular.

Sorry, but I think this thread is pointless. I mean, Microsoft clearly stated that the upgrade offer will definitely end on July 29. It's been reported all over the place for weeks now, they even updated the GWX nag screen to a full-screen reminder of this fact. End of story.

Most opinion polls are pointless, they are after all opinions. But they do give a clue as to how the community is thinking on a given subject. A bit like a wife asking her husband, “Do these pants make my butt look fat?”. The answers can sometimes be quite interesting.

Microsoft has clearly stated certain positions before, only to backtrack: start menu on Windows 8/8.1, a file system to replace NTFS and so forth and so on.
