[Not working anymore] How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process

    Which one I have to use to active win8.1 kmspico or Microsoft toolkit to get genuine ticket

    Both should work when you really upgrade, generating ticket should not work.

    Yep, as the OP states, generating a genuineticket.xml won't work on kms activated windows (you could try but i would simply upgrade to be sure) :)

    It worked here 2 times, can't try another time before monday (i have to do a system from a friend of mine with 8.1 KMSpico activation). All my systems already have HWID's for all versions.

    Just a quick one... I want to reserve a Windows 10 license for my work machine, I can remote into it. If I do the GenuineTicket.xml process and I can find a 10240 iso to rip the gatherosstate.exe to run. Can I upgrade the machine offline and do the same process AFTER the 29th ?

    1. Why use the 10240 version?
    2. Afaik you have to apply the ticket before july 29. to be saved/confirmed at MSFT servers. Applying can be done on a vhd.

    So, just for giggles and so I have this clear.

    I want to ask if this will work. SO I remote into the machine I want the upgrade for (connect via team viewer). I run the gatherosstate.exe that I rip off any version of Windows 10 pro. It will generate a GenuineTicket.xml. I take the file off the computer, drop in VMware workstation, create a VM with Windows 10 pro with out a internet connection. Copy the xml file into C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\ClipSVC\GenuineTicket\ Then reboot, and give the machine internet.

    This should reserve this upgrade for the PC I wanted to. Then when I am ready (even after the 29th), I can upgrade the PC to Windows 10 pro, copy the same xml file to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\ClipSVC\GenuineTicket\ on the machine I upgrade and it should work.

    Does this sound right or am I missing a step ? Will VMware workstation work for my needs on this ?

    Afaik a VM does not have the same HWID as the host because of the emulated hardware.

    So what type of VHD software should I use...and does this have to be done on the SAME PC as I plan to upgrade, or can it be done (applying the xml to an image) on a different PC ?

    ps2, be sure to generate a ticket anyway, you can always try and proof me/us wrong :)

    Yep, welcome to my life.... Funny it's my wife who normally says stuff like that :-\

    I'll try to generate the ticket this week and do a test upgrade when I get back.

    Edit: I logged into the machine and created the ticket. Are we sure a upgrade wont work ? I'll acronis it and do some testing, Try the upgrade, if that fails, I'll attempt the clean install.

    Is there any build this works better with ? 10240, or 10511 ?

    Upgrading will not work after july 29. but maybe clean installing 10 and applying the ticket will work, nobody is really sure about it.
