[Not working anymore] How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process

Conspiracy or not, it's something strange they are desperate to get everyone on board with W10.

They are either going to push the Universal Apps hard and make money from the store, or sell the personal data or use some other funky revenue scheme since it just sounds too good to be true.

By the way, is it just me or certain systems run blazing fast (like modern Haswell systems) while older systems are intentionally crippled somehow to run slower.

In W7, I could barely feel the difference between two old and new systems but in W10 it's like a huge difference. Maybe get everyone upgraded then force them to upgrade to new hardware by making their installs run slow as a dog.

Anyway, keep us posted when they close this scheme. I have a couple more devices to do soon. Hopefully they will keep it open indefinitely.

Any definitive way to check that the HWID is really in MSFT's servers except doing a clean install and seeing if it gets activated ? I ran the usual commands like slmgr /xpr and /dlv and all seems OK. Reports permanent activation.

 

I have a trackball and a touchscreen. so I guess I qualify. still won't park in blue space though.

 

Best way I've come up with is I built a WintoGo stick with windows 10 on it, boot it in the new hardware, if it gets verified you are good.

WAIT, the word "they" ( and by extension "them" ) implies more than one.

 

Tried this an hour ago and it did not work. Tried GenuineTicket method, and using W7 key in Win10, also failed.

Downloaded AT upgrader and tried using gatherosstate.exe to create GenuineTicket, but it doesn't do so. Waiting for ESD to download to see if I can easily replicate this to other machines for future upgrades.

Also just tried this on a W7 Pro x64 activated by Daz Loader. Tried by extracting gatherosstate.exe from the AT Upgrade Tool, and also by installing it on W7 and running it from the created c:\Windows10Upgrade folder, no GenuineTicket.xml was generated. But anyway, as posted by Enthousiast @ post #9 we know it's still possible to upgrade post 29 July. Tested it yesterday and others in that thread also did it from a KMS activated W8.1.

 

Failed, here no GenuineTicket.xml was generated.

According to krakatoa VM is an AT technology but i will test more in VMWare

 

Stupid Bat question of the day Is the 10586 multi ISO it download encrypted or it's already decrypted

 

Do you still have the esd file? If yes, run it thru abbodi1406's esd>iso converter, it will state if it's encrypted at first start of the cmd.
